Irad rode him to perfection. He saved ground, waited and then waited some more. Once he got Red Knight into gear he just kept passing tiring horses and running to the wire. What a very cool horse. Let's hear it for the old guys.
Tom Egan must be over the moon with this victory. He is not just the owner of this 9 year old gelding, but also the breeder and the owner of the broodmare. Here is a link to a great bio of Mr. Egan, who at 75 still describes himself as a "recovering attorney." It also points out that there is no actual Trinity Stable or Trinity Farm. The inspiration for the name came from a 250 year old church located behind his house. I think that you will enjoy the article. https://trainermagazine.com/north-am...tar-red-knight |

I think Red Knight has earned a bit of a following here with us. For me, his win was the high point of a day in which most of my picks were pretty awful. I'm sure we will be returning to Gulstream in the near future so maybe there is hope for redemption. I don't think anyone is playing nearly as well as we did last year at this time.
