Of course we knew that you were going to select the Fair Grounds; with the Risen Star attracting some KY Derby hopefuls and the Rachel Alexandra counting toward KY Oaks qualifying points, that is by far the best available contest venue.
As the defending champ, you are perfectly entitled to select whether to play a full card or only a selection of races from that card. You have always selected the full card no matter how many races are to be run. Some day I would love to learn why you believe that having a 14 race card adds value to our contest or make the contest more competitive. |

CYou may wonder why I choose to play them all Wish I had a good answer Perhaps a challenge Of maiden races Makes me a true Romancer Maidens can present A Mystery Of Unknown Then By Choosing Winners May show how you have grown Easier picking a winner When knowing of their past But with Maidens the question Is Will they be Winners… or last To me the bigger challenge Is to play the entire card Although I know for some They consider it way too hard I don’t get to choose very often Of where we are goin to run So I hope nobody holds grudges And everyone has a day of Fun 🩷 🙏 ❣️ 🐯 MAY THE PURRRRR BE WITH YOU 😻 WEBSITE ===> www.RUFFIAN333.com 🐎 Horses 🏇 😻 Cats 😸 🐶 Dogs 🐕 📖 Poetry 🖊 🎶 Lyrics 🎵 |

I didn't expect to get 5 stanzas of poetry when I asked a serious question about the point at which more races are simply more races, not more fun or a more competitive contest. It isn't a question of being too hard, but of passing the point of diminishing returns, where players who try to seriously analyze races find that the preparation uses up more time than is available or scorers find that the extra 3 or 4 races makes scoring just that much more of a burden.
As to the challenge of handicapping maiden races, I would agree only if you have a bunch of first time starters. Many other maiden races tend to be relatively formful, as you can project continued improvement of those who have shown promise in their debut races and should benefit from the additional experience or in maiden claimers, those who are dropping in class and will benefit from facing weaker competition. Actually, you probably get to choose the venue more often than many other players. But, you've made the choice so, as Ernie Banks never used to say, "Let's play 14." |

There is already a limit on the number of races that can be played in the ROI. Maybe there should be one in the points contest too. Digger has been pretty nice about doing the scoring. Is it fair to ask him to do 14 races?
