ROI Results 2/17 @ Fair Grounds
The Derby Trail is heating up and Sierra Leone made his mark at Fair Grounds. NJ Stinks and Cal
correctly tabbed him. For the first time this season 4 players made a profit and for the first time the super spot was filled. 6 tickets were cashed with Zippy getting two of them. Digger gets the super slot with a winning ticket on Best Actor. Cal gets third by singling out Sierra Leone in the feature and collecting $15.30 for each buck. For this week at least the top two cappers were NJ Breds. NJ Stinks, stabled this week in Barbados, put $50 win on Sierra Leone and returned with $185 and an $85 profit on the day. Real Quiet gets the win with an exacta in race two worth $201.30 and spent the next 12 races at the 18th hole bar awaiting challenges. Had NJS and I been on the golf course instead of the track he would have been 17 up with one to play. Following are the unofficial results pending the official scorer knocking his tee shot out of bounds. Check your scores. Don't be Jordan Spieth. See ya next Saturday. WIN... Real Quiet... +$102.30... I started to say, nothing sloppy about your play at the Big Easy RQ, but considering Fair Grounds was temporarily a lake, that would hardly be true. Nice play on a day that was way more formful than I expected it might be. Back in the day when there was a pick 6 contest on the ESPN website, someone commented that tracks speed up on wet days and favor the pace setter types. That did not seem to be the case on Saturday. For a moment in the Risen Star, it looked like it might be true and then Sierra Leone put an end to that notion in dramatic fashion and I think the other two dirt stakes ended similarly with an off the pace runner catching a speedster.

IH, there's a name that brings back memories. As a recall from so many years ago (I'm pretty good at that, but often can't remember what happened yesterday), the real error was made by De Vincenzo's playing partner, who recorded a par on a hole where De Vincenzo had actually scored a birdie. Since De Vincenzo signed the card, the higher score was recorded and he was denied a tie for the Master's. The rules of golf can be very strange at times.
