Default BC Board approves initiative plan; Sanan elaborates on ATR

The Breeders Cup Ltd. Board of Directors today approved a 4 pronged, long-term strategic initiative plan as initiated 18 monrhs ago by Satish Sanan.

Satish will join me on ATR at 4:15 to elaborate:
http://www.clearstreaming.com/radios...sandbeyond.asx
  • Explore the feasibility of a single permanent host site location for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships;
  • Establish a new Breeders’ Cup Racing Series in partnership with North American and European racetracks to better define and market the road to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships;
  • Expand brand marketing and commercial development programs, with an emphasis on digital marketing and social media;
  • Take a new approach to nominations to significantly expand the number of Breeders’ Cup eligible horses.

Also...

Bobby Flay...

Jeff Runco...

Nick Tammaro...

Jason Beem...

Gus Alonso...

Rick Hammerle...

Bill Finley...

Why would they want a permanent site?

Of course it's "feasible"...unless they are planning on holding it on the Moon.

The words that should have been used are Benefits, Challenges, Popularity, Effect, Stupidity, Narrow Mindedness, etc, etc, etc...

It should rotate between CD and Bel, with a track other than those two every third year.

WHEN Santa Anita goes back to dirt, they should have a 3 site rotation with an other every 4th year.

They need to hold it on synthetic every year so we can hear Jess Jackson whine.

Went back and listened to Bobby Flay's surprise appearance on the show...

Simply awesome. Glad he is so passionate about it - hope the sport can harness his passion and popularity.

On a separate note, I sat about 15 feet from Flay on opening day at Saratoga this year. It was about an hour, maybe more, before first post on opening day and Flay was in his box, by himself, handicapping. Amen.

the non-fans are more important than the fans.

we are taken

for granted

I know
they can have a nascar race going on at the same time as the BC Champonships. All they have to do is move the BC to the old Sportsman's Park
the NASCAR fans will suddenly discover horse racing and...

damn, I hope they don't read this

Word on another board, from someone who spoke with a BC board member, is SANTA ANITA as the permanent host.

Message boards might blow up when this gets announced

almost three quarters of respondents (myself included) on the paulick report poll voted against a single track being the host each year. now, unless it's churchill downs, i don't see how that idea could ever fly. the west coast would not want to have to ship each year (especially after running on syn all year) and the east coasters would be in the same boat with not wanting to leave their favored surface for plastic. i think it's a bad idea the more i think about it.

If it has to be one I'd prefer it to be CD, but I have no idea why it has to be. Belmont is a great location.

Maybe because not everyone lives in NY, although I know most New Yorkers feel that way
