Default TVG Position of NYRA Overcharge of Takeout

I received a phone call from someone in Customer Service at TVG a few minutes ago regarding what they plan to do to remediate the shortchanging of customers who "cashed" exotic and superexotic wagers with them during the NYRA takeout overcharge fiasco. Short answer = ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

I only had a little less than $1,000 in affected cashings with them during the period, and the guy on the phone told me TO THE PENNY how much I had lost (less than $!0), but made it very clear to me that TVG was not going to make me whole. They laid the whole thing back on NYRA's doorstep and indicated that NYRA would be reducing the take to 24%, and that is the only corrective action that I could expect.

I suggested that they could at least use their "Wager Rewards" program to accomplish some sort of equity here, but the guy I talked to said they had no plans to do so.

Guess I'm switching to Twin Spires from now on.

regarding TVG: Why pay to wager anyways. TS is always free.

however, that being said. Why should TVG reimburse you when they were not at fault?

Having watching the talking head there, I am very glad they are NOT my prime race provider...

Because TVG kept the money. The mistake was NYRA's, however the individual ADW's and various tracks that took bets kept the money.

NYRA is making restitution to players who used NYRA rewards. The ADW's should make restitution to their players.

Yes, I'm laying off TVG now.

Right, not their fault but I'm somewhat familiar with settlement procedures between ADW's and racetracks. TVG and other ADW's were the recipients of the "windfall" profits due to the universal underpayments to customers. In round numbers, the underpayment was around $8 million; about 3/4 of that or more didn't remain in NYRA's coffers.

Right, I didn't mean to imply that Twin Spires is doing anything different than TVG. I just don't know, and they'll probably all stick together, I would think.

If there's anyone on here who actually KNOWS what any of them are doing, if anything, to placate their customers, please post.

Dahoss, that link is for NY remediation efforts only. Clearly, the NYSR&WB can tell NYRA and the OTB Regions what to do. Out of state ADW's, as far as I know, can pretty much do what they want.

Anyway, in the interests of full disclosure, I can now report that the same guy with TVG called me late this afternoon to inform me that I was to receive Wager Reward points in an amount sufficient to compensate me for the amount I was shortchanged. The guy made it clear to me that this was a "courtesy" action only, because they didn't want to lose me as a customer.

Sounds like a case of the squeaky wheel (me) getting the oil.

I realize this. I just figured it was worth posting again, because the initial thread got zero responses.

Locally, Capital OTB and Saratoga Harness have announced "claim procedures" on the takeout issue, with claims deadline in March. Has NYRA issued anything yet?
