like i said, don't care for him so i can admit i probably don't give him his due. and 'one of the best ever' tends to get watered down when people start adding names to a lengthening list. they can't all be the one of the best ever. my 'lists' tend to be very, very short.

Thats fair. I can admit to using best ever, or GOAT a bit much.

mike smith will be the next legend to retire most likely. laffit pincay retired before jerry bailey as jerry's the last legend to retire.

Who'd ever have thunk it that in a string of three consecutive posts, Rock Tard Hen would have the best post?

Bailey would have easily been the all time earnings jock if he would have waited on retirement a month or two later. He was only 1.8 million shy of beating Pat Day. Pat Day did have 3000 more wins and a lot more mounts than Jerry bailey.

John Velasquez, in 4-5 yrs will be on top of that list.

Speaking of johnny v, i think imo hes my favorite jockey and hes most accomplishing of today's jockeys that are out right now even the young ones too. I actually think hes an actual legend thats out right now. Him and mike smith. His resume proves why he's the jockey that he is now and why i say that. Maybe in 4-5 years he will eclipse them as you said and become the most successful jockey on earnings won.

You did make a good point that bailey shouldve waited a little longer to eclipse pat day maybe by the end of gulfstream park most likely.

JV is a legend right now. I am a fan of Mike Smith. The consensus around here is that he sucks though. I still like him.

On forums especially tvg community dont really like him. I think if i can recall on one of the forums one of the poaters said that maybe they judge him too harshly since hes a hall of famer.

As for johnny v, i think after the legends say like shoemaker, pincay, cordero, day, bailey, stevens, mccaaron, eddie d, etc. you have to put both johnny v and mike smith after those names when they retire even though imo as i was saying that johnny v and mikey are the only ones that are actually legends that are out right now.

So, you think, that in your own opinion, he's your favorite jockey?

I don't know man, I think that maybe, in your own opinion, he might be your third favorite jockey.

since the hall of fame already passed by already, jocks like jorge chavez, victor espinoza and calvin borel have the credentials to get into the hall of fame. derby win, a major riding title and a breeders cup win. they may not be the best in the world but those guys' have had brief primes but dont you they should be hall of inductees in the future?

I mean will they ever be in the hall of fame?

And will we see another female rider outside of julie krone get into the hall of fame?

This isn't directed at you but just in a general sense it's too bad jockeys can't be called jockeys... the whole prefacing with female thing is really getting old, isn't it?
