SAT - Gulfstream (Opening Day - Entire Card); Tampa (Opener PK4)
I am still getting use to Gulfstream Park opening up before the new year. Gulfstream will be under a new renovation that will include an actual grandstand for racing fans to lure future Breeders' Cups and year round racing. It feels like this project won't be completed until 2020.
Gulfstream starts with the Claiming Crown that has produced full fields with plenty of options. Add to mix that almost every runner has an unfamiliar jockey assigned. Michael Maker looks to make an impact with at least one runner in every Claiming Crown race. The card kicks off with three interesting races on the Turf, two for juveniles. Horseplayers have their hands full to say the least, but there are some opportunities for a big score. Tampa Bay Downs also gets underway with a solid juvenile card that features the Sandpiper for fillies at six furlongs. Racing is in full swing in the Sunshine State. Gulfstream Park POST SCRATCHES - FAST / FIRM R1 - MSW 52k (Turf 8F) #2 Money Madness (12-1) - Rocco Jr. rode especially well on Turf at the Churchill meeting this fall. #7 Divine Luck (5-1) - Improves with better draw and hood. WON $7.00 #5 Bramley (12-1) - Expecting a step forward after decent debut. #1 Dawn Glory (GB) (3-1) - Should be forwardly placed throughout. 2ND R2 - MSW 52k (Turf 2yo 8.5F) #5 Bold Dance (10-1) - No chance in debut after the terrible break and was shipped to So Fla right after. Expecting big turnaround on Turf debut. Note: Rocco picks up the mount 3RD R3 - OC 75k/N1X (Turf 2yo 8F) #5 Cerro (Ire) (6-1) - I'll forgive Pilgrim try on the yielding course. 4TH #1 Undrafted (5-2) - Should get a cozy rail trip. WON $7.80 #8 Ginger Goose (GB) (3-1) - Returns to Turf and Group 2 effort wins this. #4 Leveraged Loan (8-1) - Better draw should help the cause. Good Luck today Gus. I looked at that Late P4 and I think I have a better chance handicapping the Power Ball. It is Brutal and should pay a fortune.

We're off to a familiar beginning.
1st race - fractions 20.72 for the 1st quarter in a Turf route. I'm sure they'll have this corrected before 2nd race.
