Just 6 for this but feels slippery even with presence of 4-5 Kauai Katie who is drawn ideally for up close stalking trip. Too much speed here for this not to invite consideration of a meltdown and that gives you first dirt Spring Venture & outsider Ashlee's Princess. As demonstrated by Beholder's upset Monday, returning Champions get no quarter from eager foes and Shanghai Bobby will need to come back running here from tricky berth. Frac Daddy, Bern Identity, Dewey Square and Itsmyluckyday the obvious alternatives for those aggressively trying to beat Pletcher/Starlight 2yo hero and Tulira Castle could be magic key to boosting deep exotics. Mike Welsch relayed amazing numbers from the 8.5f Gulfstream races so far this year, showing 14 of 21 contests at the trip have been won by horses from posts 1-3..

Thx Nick. Was a fun day at GP. If you heard the chat with Welsch Friday, the only reason he and I both shuffled him down was the post. But the minute I saw Itsmyluckyday come by on the walk to the paddock, I knew there was going to be trouble. Have been kicking myself for hours.

Terrific race from both of them. Winner was dead fit and Shanghai Bobby still working his way back. They'll hook up again in the Florida Derby according to Plesa and Pletcher.
