Default 10/21: BEL (C/O); WO (Int'l); RP (OK Derby)

Closing Day at Belmont, the official end of Summer-Fall racing in NY, delivers a must-distribute carryover of more than $63,000 after the predictably unpredictable NYB Showcase Saturday. Dr. V's Magic ($32.80) surprised the Empire Classic, and was the biggest contributor to the arduousness of the late multi-race wagering. The late P4 returned $11,500 thanks to the shocker, as Raynick's Fan (3-1), Al Basha (7-1) and Ferocious Fires (5-1) were all either plausible or logical.

Returning Ferocious Fires kept his perfect record intact via a DQ of Stormin Normandy in the Hudson, in a pitched battle of the Dutrow Brothers. Anthony's 4yo 'Fires', away nearly a year, relentlessly came at Rick's pacesetting 'Normandy' who began to drift out past the sixteenth pole clearly impeeding the son of Lite the Fuse. It was one of the day's best races.

Earlier, Barclay Tagg's Big Truck was stunned at 1-3 by red hot Richie Schosberg and his Giant Moon. A race later, Schosberg's Light Tactic (2-1), as well as (R.) Dutrow's Ice Kool Kitty (3-2) fell victim to Karakorum Elektra in the Iroquois to set continue the tone regularly set on this state bred card. Our multi-race wagers missed all day, but Karakorum Elektra (Best Value, $31.80), Ferocious Fires (Best Value-Best Bet, $12.00) and Ticonderoga exotics sweep softened the P4/P6 blows. A fun day of racing... Hope you did well.

The closeout carryover card features 2yo's, and was worth a look (below). At Woodbine, the Gr. I Pattison Canadian International ($2MM) drew a great cast, and s the highlight of a strong card. In Oklahoma City, Remington celebrates the state's Centennial with the Oklahoma Derby.

Steve, not to nit-pick, but you've got the Dutrow brothers backwards... it was Dick "The Magician"'s "Normandy" and Tony's "Fires"...

Well, since you mentioned it, 2 Dick "Magician" Dutrow horses from yesterday:

(and I don't mean to change the subject of the thread),

Expect the End from yesterday's 1st:

$1200 yearling purchase, runs a TG 22 in debut maiden $30,000 for Maker, Dutrow takes over, improves to a 9, then a 4.5..

Stormin Normandy from the 7th... this one was an expensive horse, $375,000 as a yearling, first 2 starts at 2 for Lukas, 12 and 15.. Dutrow takes over, off for 8 months, comes out with a ZERO!, then a 1.25..

I'm just asking, is Mr Dutrow simply a better trainer than the rest, or is there something else going on?

Steve, I am not sure if your picks are pre or post scratches. The 13 in the 9th is in, Cannonball, with Samyn aboard. Just wondering if you think he is an include in late pk4.

As always, the one I throw out at the last minute beats me. Unbelievable. Coa should be shot for that ride, no reason to move that early.
