RP...
Sprinter Benbaun to join Ryan next year David Carr GROUP 1-winning sprinter Benbaun is to join Kevin Ryan when his current trainer Mark Wallace heads to Australia early next year. The seven-year-old won the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp last season but has been beset by bleeding problems this term and is without a win in seven races. Wallace said on Wednesday: "He is going to have a break and then he is going to go to Kevin Ryan. He will have a couple of runs next year, they will give him another go." |

Happy retirement to Maraahel.
RP... Maraahel retired while Ask to target Arc David Milnes MARAAHEL, one of the most popular Flat horses in training , has been retired, but stablemate Ask is set to return to action next season with the Arc as his target. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute,Maraahel won eight of his 34 starts and over £1 million in prize money. The seven-year old recorded back to back victories in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2006 and 2007, but could never quite break his duck in Group 1s, coming closest when finishing a short-head second to Notnowcato in the 2006 Juddmonte International. Angus Gold, racing manager to owner Hamdan Al Maktoum, said: "Maraahel was a fantastic servant and is currently enjoying his retirement atShadwell. Hopefully we canfind a stud job for him somewhere in the near future." |

I think this thread has about 20 or so Hattan (HATTAN! ) posts so just want to say hooray and thrilled and his brave 2nd at Nad Al was absolutely the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Okay well the best would have been if he had won but hey... he's still got it).
Congrats to this wonderful horse and his connections and cheers for keeping him in training. ~ Hattans number 1 fan (swoon) |

Well I figured instead of bumping up the Kandidate thread (cause it's depressing!), I'd put this here. (Thanks for telling me, No Chance).
Cheers to this boy and to his biggest fan (happy late Birthday!). This was his 50th start. He'd been last his last 3 starts, hadn't won since last March. I think he only had one win in 2007 too. Kinda like Hattan... one a year or so. Gotta love them! Thought he was going to Dubai... Maybe he will now. Cheers to KANDIDATE! Valentine foal for Ouija Board By Nancy Sexton11.23AM 15 FEB 2009 Ouija Board: foaled a colt by Monsun on Saturday MULTIPLE Group 1-winning globetrotter Ouija Board gave birth to her second foal on Saturday morning, a colt by leading German sire Monsun. The eight-year-old daughter of Cape Cross, who was a week overdue, will now travel to Kiltinan Stud in Ireland to visit last season's champion sire Galileo. According to Peter Stanley of Stanley House Stud, where the mare boards, Ouija Board is doing well. "She's a great mother, very sensible,"he said. "It was a straightforward foaling. The colt weighs 50kg and is a very nice, correct sort with a strong character." Lord Derby's homebred mare retired at the end of the 2006 season following a brilliant career which yielded ten wins including seven at the highest level. Among her most memorable victories was a seven length annihilation of the 2004 Oaks field and two renewals of the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Ouija Board's first foal is a colt by Kingmambo, who is likely to be retained by Lord Derby. Last edited by my miss storm cat : 02-15-2009 at 01:32 PM. |

Sad news, from Racing Post...
Injured champ Adlerflug faces early retirement By David Conolly-Smith4.06PM 27 MAY 2009 GERMAN champion Adlerflug has almost certainly run his last race after fracturing a cannon bone while working on Tuesday morning. A team of surgeons were flown over from Newmarket to operate on the In The Wings five-year-old in Germany on Wednesday afternoon. Trained by Jens Hirschberger, Adlerflug won the German Derby in 2007 and finished runner-up in the last two renewals of the Grosser Preis von Baden. On his most recent outing, he narrowly failed to steal second behind Vision d'Etat in the Prix Ganay. He had been an intended runner in Sunday's Group 2 Grand Prix de Chantilly. Peligroso, a Group-winning juvenile for trainer Mario Hofer last November, is set to make his debut for Godolphin after being supplemented for Monday's Group 3 Bavarian Classic at Munich. |
