This year's Florida Derby ended up being one of the worst Grade 1 preps I've seen in terms of Derby success. Who would have thought the Lane's End would have held it's form so well?

Pletcher usually denies that there is a problem with one of his horses when there is one, tries to spin it so it doesn't sound like a big deal, or just doesn't mention that there is a problem at all when one exists with one of them. He covers his butt, and I can't blame him for it.

Other examples of Todd Pletcher's denials/cover-ups/or fail to mentions: Flower Alley, Any Given Saturday, Bluegrass Cat, etc...

I think quite a few horses are a lot more talented than they showed in the Derby. Scat Daddy is one of them, but I still don't think that he would have hit the board even if he was allowed to run his best race without the traffic problems.
Well good for you. So you just KNEW that he was training in bar shoes for 10 months? Posting it in your myspace blog 3 days before the Derby does nothing for anyone here. Everyone here KNEW before that. The colt has a quarter crack and that's why he trains in bar shoes. Did you know that?

The first paragraph is great....which is it? Did you notice it or did someone else point it out to you?

Please, feel free to further what you are referencing concerning the three mentioned horses. And, furthermore, is Pletcher the only trainer that apparently " covers his butt? "

Here's one prediction, however, you did post here.

Not defending Pletcher, but what specifically are you referring to? The assumption that Scat Daddy's poor performance is related to a foot problem that he has been covering up? There's no basis or fact to support this.

I don't recall the Flower Alley scandal, I remember that Bluegrass Cat threw a shoe in the Tampa Derby, but still ran a game 2nd in the Derby that year.

What was he covereing up about AGS? We saw what he had againd SS again in the Tampa derby, as well as his performance when he bearly got around a field on also-rans in the Sam F. Davis...of course anyone critical of that performance was lambasted for expecting too much from a 3yo in Feburary.

I, like some others thought Scat Daddy had the best chance of the 5 he brought. Was disappointed with the finish...But the hue and cry that will insue if the horse is hurt from running on bad feet after a shoe change will not taken lightly....They are lined up out the isles to throw this guy under a bus at any chance

I dropped the name Gordon Bitner Hinckley in a post today....

That alone ought to get me enshrined in the Derby Trail hall of fame.

Winner of the most pathetic post of the day.....and judging from the material in this thread alone that was no easy task.

What did I miss about AGS? Is he hurt now? What did Pletcher hide?
