I think it might be genetics. I had the same problem as a kid, but my Mom wouldn't put ear tubes in because they were so risky at the time. If the doctor tells me Dan needs them again, I refuse to put him through that crap again. He's also had his adnoids taken out. [/QUOTE
Jamie this is just a statement and not meant to be offensive to you in anyway.I've heard horror stories about parents and their kids doctors.I hate going into Manhattan and dealing with the traffic but for these doctors i have no problem. Our childrens pediatrician is head of critical care at NYU and he noticed in our son in a split second years ago that his left eye was a little lazy and sent us to an eye doctor. Our son has been wearing glasses since 2.5 years old and in about 3 years will not need them anymore. How he saw that in a fraction of a second i'll never know but these doctors are the best.
To be honest, our doctors down here are excellent as well (although probably not as good as yours)... his ENT is head of Nemours Children's Clinic and I honestly have no complaints... it certainly beats all the antibiotics he was on before. I think he's had one round of antibiotics this year, so I'm happy about that.

I'm not surprised to hear that New York has great doctors... that'd be a long haul from here! LOL

My mom said I ate dirt till I was 8.
Also picked gumb out of ashtrays for sampling.

Pillbugs... but Im fine now. Yes indeed. And your son will be fine just like me... that should bring great comfort, thats what Im here for.

Those taste buds change, its amazing. My daughter used to never eat anything spicy. Now she puts jalapenos and picante on anything rapped in a tortilla. Those messages to the brain change over time.

I was again challenged to swallow a live mullet whole (we were at the coast this weekend) so I oblidged my fans. Anyone who has caught mullet in nets know that absolutely unique smell. Always pinch the nose when swallowing live fish. Never swallow the finny ones. ALWAYS head first. Try and keep them off your tongue.

Jesus, no wonder he won't eat anything.... herring with onions ....I would need culinary therapy after that.....

not trying to make light of it....my two sons mom and I divorced when they were 7 and 5 and she is the queen of take out and I love to cook.....now they are 17 and 15 and it can still be a struggle with the 15 year old....and I'm talking basic stuff......green beans, corn, etc.....maybe I should try some herring and onions tomorrow..

Sometimes it's a long haul from Queens which is only about 18 miles away.

Yeah, my sister was up there this weekend and she said the traffic is unreal. Coming from Orlando, we know all about traffic so it must be pretty darn bad up there...

threads like these have me counting my blessings. all my kids were healthy, one had tonsils out--other than that, except for all three having to get stitches at some point, no health issues.
and they all eat well too. helps keep things in perspective when you hear stories!

of course mine are independant minded, and stubborn, not afraid to speak their minds--which presents its own kind of problems. wonder where they got that from?

Traffic this week has been the LIGHTEST it's been all year. Everybody...well almost everybody has taken this week off from work. As an example, usually my ride home from Belmont leaving at 5 PM would take close to one hour, maybe more. This past Friday, there WAS NOTHING and made it home in 35 minutes!

Tell her to come up here when schools are in session and everybody is back to work!

PS There's nothing bad up here

My son had all kinds of ear infections as a 2-3 year old. It must be hereditary because I had the tubes when I was a kid. Beware, because the problem was diagnosed falsely a few times. Apparently my son would get in hysterics at the doctor office and when they would look in his ear it would look infected, but it was actually the result of the hysterics. Bottom line is that the other doctor in the office (the better one) said that there was a good chance that he would outgrow the ear problems and thankfully he did. He does have a lazy eye also, and he has been wearing glasses for a year. He does great with them and hopefully he will outgrow that problem too. As far as the sushi goes. I can't even get my wife to eat it. Personally I love it. You guys are right, they won't starve. So it is just a big competiton who will give first, and thankfully the parents got on the board tonight. Bottom line is these should be the biggest problems we ever have to deal with!

The minute school ends traffic lightens up.Usually after i drop our son off at 8 o'clock at school here in Little Neck i'll hit traffic on the Long Island expressway at exit 27.This past Friday i dropped him off for camp and didn't hit traffic until exit 19 which is Maurice avenue and the Brooklyn Queens expressway which has traffic at 3 in the morning.Summer is the best time to go into Manhattan on the weekends since it's empty with everyone leaving Thursday for the Hamptons and other locations.

Samarta it was his own doing.I was eating them one day about 6 years ago and he asked to try them.I told him he might not like it but to my amazement he asked for more and loved to eat it if i cut them up and put toothpicks in them.

Have you ever used the medical group in Lake Success right down from you?
Pro Health Care Associates? They are affilliated with LIJ-North Shore and they take care of the NY Jets, NY Islanders, Hofstra University and St. John's University.

They are right on Marcus Ave. We have found them to be as good as the guys in NYC. We only bring our orthopedic cases into NYC for surgery.
