I some of you guys dont like it, but like you Scavs, I am very happy its at S.A. this year. Get to spend the week on the backside seeing everything up close. The horses are the most exciting thing, heck I might not even make it around to the frontside!

A Saratoga BC would be awesome.

A Del Mar BC would be a handicapping nightmare.

right. but there had been rumors that they might not have it this year due to magnas bankruptcy.
knowing the best handle, by FAR, is when it's at churchill, you'd think they'd just keep it there.
churchill still supposed to get it in '10? if so, i'll make plans to go.

I think we have been through that already. I believe the answer was that it's just not feasable/worth it for NYRA to uproot everything during the fall championship meet at Belmont to relocate at Saratoga for 3-4 days of racing. Not to mention that Belmont is much more capeable to handle the huge crowds of BC weekend.

Keeneland doesn't have the capacity for a BC. Cram in 25K and things are not comfortable there. And no infield.

Too small at Toga...Too cold at Arlington wasn't it? Monmouth worked out well. Most formful BC. EVER. Even in the rain the best horses still won.

I really wish they would give Monmouth another chance. Only for selfish reasons for me, because it was really difficult to enjoy the days due to the extremely poor weather.

I was hoping for a move. Don't like it at Santa Anita again.

I do hope Monmouth gets another chance. My wife and I liked the track and area; it would be great there if the weather cooperates.

Looking forward to CD again in '10. Can't wait for it to return to Belmont. Definately have to make that trip and check it out.

As for Keeneland, they did hire a consultant to look at redesigning/remodeling the grandstand area to increase capacity and open up the possibility of hosting a BC. I think it is the same firm (HOK Sports) that was involved with the redesign at Ascot. But with the economic downturn, those plans may be on hold for a while.

i wonder if monmouth would be interested? they lost money hosting it a few years ago. might be more trouble then it's worth in their opinion.

But how much money was lost due to the weather?

Granted, it would be a chance for Monmouth to host again. IF the rains came again, it would be a disaster for them.

Unfortunately where the track is located, its just a logistical nightmare. It's really one road in and one road out. Traffic was an absolute nightmare and that's with the attendance being less than they were expecting. I'm not sure how much if any that factors in. The place looked wonderful, but unfortunately the weather didn't cooraperate.

but was attendance low due to weather, or due to location? churchill has the ability to draw a crowd like none of the other tracks have(where the crowd is, the money follows)-why they don't just keep it there, i don't know.

also, a lot of the money isn't 'lost', it goes directly to the bc, not the host track.

Traffic was pretty rough. We parked at some company's parking lot and took a bus to the track. Leaving was interesting. Freakin' free-for-all getting on one. We just waited until the mad rush was over and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

only 10,000 people would be able to go and they would still have a hard time moving around.
