I'm sure he's too busy handicapping Townsville and Canterbury to read this thread.

At the BlacK Eyed Susan a few years back Panty Raid might have been the only serious bet Phil made the whole day but he did quite the dance of the white man when he won.

great...

The ML for this is like the worst possible way i could have written it up

Battle of hastings 2-1
Take The points 3-1
Lime Rickey 7-2

oh well. Pass.

I guess it's a playable race for those of you who like Lime Rickey but plan on tossing Take the Points

Who doesn't plan on playing against Take the Points? Where did you find a line this early?

I think Take The Points is the one horse I would be certain of using along with whatever of the others that I found up to standards on a video review.

His Sham was a big effort. He already showed talent on the dirt in florida and new york. His Santa Anita Derby was a form building type of experience.
Whatever you thought of him going into the preakness you kind of have to still think now, after he ran in the collapsing part of the race flow while wide and under Prado.
I thought of him as a solid grade II or grade III 3yo before the Preakness.

It is unknown whether anyone else in this race is a grade II or III talent, Battle of Hastings has a true turf pedigree and recent form and a move-up tarainer and must be given the probability that he can compete for the win. Pretty much all of these are worth a video review to form an opinion as many have decent paper form with open possibilities of being competitive.

a few morning lines were mentioned in the bloodhorse article:

I don't think Take The Points has ever run a race that i would call "big." What was so impressive about his two California races against decidedly weak competition, and why do his dirt races (that I'm far less impressed by than you) really even matter? Obviously the Preakness is a toss - not exactly a particularly innovative notion there. Would I be totally shocked if he ran well? Obviously not. But I would never use a horse with such an inflated reputation and subsequently deflated price who is unproven on turf when there are horses in here who have run well on turf and possess far more upside than Take the Points at presumably higher odds.

I do, however I am not sure where the value will be. I think the Queen's Plate is shaping up to be a much better wagering race.

The full line's out now on DRF. I'd love 12-1 on Final Count.

I think that The Pamplemousse was a pretty awesome horse-for-course on that pro ride surface.
In The Sham, Take The Points was used out of the gate a little in a futile move, and then asked a little near the end of the race. I thought he came into the Sham in decent form and had that been a dirt race (or turf) it could have been a bigger effort.

as far as taking to the turf, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't. His running style and pedigree seem fine. These horse settle into the turf dynamics fine most of the time and if they have a little bit of talent edge they translate well into these 3yo stakes.

He's no lock. Play against him if you want. I was hoping to use him with others at around 5-1.

And didn't he beat Take the Points by 6? His ability seems kind of irrelevant in here since he crushed TTP.

The time to take him might've been last out.

I'm just hoping the rain doesn't come down like it did last year! That storm was unreal.

I agree that 'Mousse is a good horse and a star on that track but don't see his second in the Sham as a great run. It seemed that they all figured 'Mousse was cheap stretchout speed and that he'd come back so no one challenged early. They just cantered 1-2 all around.

I don't see any reason to think that he's be a move up on grass. No stunning turf breeding, no huge trainer angle etc. The fact that he seems to "just keep running" may help at 1 3/16 but unless he's a hidden grass freak, I think he's a bet against.

I haven't really studied the race but I'd rather have a horse with some upside at a price. Final Count could be a nice one and I like that Lime Rickey did win an allowance against older last time. I also think Rescue Squad has a shot as well.
