Put it this way. If they had met up in one of those races, win or lose, Zenyatta would not have run in the BC Classic.

The way I see it, Jess Jackson helped Zenyatta make racing history, too.

As was the Haskell that RA thrashed Munnings and Summer Bird.
You can't be serious, VOL JACK.

Munnings is a stone-cold sprinter … and SB was coming back from a two-month layoff and spotting RA five pounds, to boot. Not to mention the fact that the Travers, not the Haskell, was his main summer objective.

That Jersey race was EASY pickins for RA.

There is absolutely NO comparison between Z's BCC and RA's Haskell, in my estimation.

Enough bickering... Let them settle it on the track this year.
In hopefully will be more that one encounter.

It could be a great rivalry on the track, just like Sunday Silence and Easy Goer.

Though I am a bigger fan of Zenyatta than RA, I must admit RA ran a more grueling campaign and met and defeated all foes. Though RA won all her races, it did seem she had to work a lot for her wins. Zenyatta on the other hand never reached her maximum effort and will be interesting to see how much more she can offer.

Wouldn't be surprised if Mr. 'Sportsman' ducks Big Mama for as long as possible … maybe even till the BC…

Well, the Breeders' Cup is the only race that matters.

Jackson said in an interview after the awards that the Apple Blossom is too soon as Rachel is not fit enough ...

So the Apple Blossom works out to be roughly a 7 month layoff--which was greatly criticised for Zenyatta last year ...

Both sides have indicated a willingness to pony up and do this meeting, but there are rumors that Rachel may not quite be Rachel as yet, or maybe more ...

Rumors can be just that or something else again ...

So does Moss try to stick it to Jackson's stallion and go for the earnings mark with Zenyatta in Dubai?

No, that would be terrible for all sides and for racing fans in general.

We do not want to see Zenyatta knocked out for the rest of the year, and if she goes to Dubai, we may never see her until fall. Why not just stay in the US and prove Zenyatta can win the big dirt races on the east? That's a more worthwhile goal that will make fans happy.

People are REALLY overrating the BCC field this past year.

It was filled with top flight horses--for dirt. And it had another top flight horse--for grass. But for plastic? No one can reasonably say it was a great field for that surface.

I think think this vote was in some part a vote against plastic campaigns. Zenyatta is a great horse, but Moss has no one but himself to blame for staging an all plastic campaign in 2009. If he had won one major race on dirt, he might have had a different result, IMO.

Zenyatta's 7 month layoff was in one year. RA's layoff, if it will be that long, will be spread over two years. Big difference if the issue is Horse of the Year.

Uh, tector, did you watch those two Euros destroy Curlin in the '08 BCC.

They clearly had no problem with the "plastic".

Did you see how the Euros fared against Big Mama last year?

The Plastic Mama sure showed them, as did turf champion Gio Ponti.

09 "Euros" are just the same as 08 "Euros" because...you say so? You can't even bother to name them. Euros just equal Euros to you--brilliant. What deep thinking.

Horses are individuals. You have no idea how the 09 Euros would run on plastic without seeing them do it.

What a dopey, simplistic "argument".

I am not sure I get this ...

If Rachel is off from Sept 09 until April or later that is seven months over two years ??

If Zenyatta was off from the BCC of 08-Nov--May 09 roughly aren't they the same ???

Does HOY give you a pass to a longer layoff ??? Really ???

It didn't by a longshot for the other Jackson HOY Curlin ...

And PS: did anybody say the 2008 BCC field was great for that surface? I must have missed that....
