Alcindor is one of four very expensive full-brothers out of the Storm Cat mare Zing. Grade II-winner Half Ours sold for $625,000 in ‘04 as a yearling at KEESEP, then fetched a record $6.1M as a three-year-old at KEENOV after winning the Three Chimneys Juvenile S. Zong brought $1.7M as a KEENOV weanling in ‘05, but is unplaced; Europe, who was in utero when Zing went for $3.6M at KEENOV in ‘05, sold the following year as a yearling for $2.6M at KEESEP, but is also unplaced; and Alcindor was knocked down for $1.15M at KEESEP in ‘08. Zing was barren in 2008, and has an unnamed 2009 filly by Distorted Humor who went for $275,000 at this year’s KEESEP sale. |

Wasn't Half Ours sold in November of his 2YO season?

Nevermind, guess he was sold for that much coin as a 3YO, and that was after a gang of early career injuries. A fool and his money...or something.

It wasn't a random sale. Is was essentially, as I recall, one partner buying out another. I believe it involved Barry Schwartz and Aaron Jones....but you should be able to look it up without much effort. Myself....I'm going to dinner.

Of course, racing fans who don't get their racing news from Oprah, 60 Minutes, or Monday Night Football, probably would have been salivating at the prospect of another Lookin At Lucky-Noble's Promise showdown (they were never separated by more than 3/4 of a length in 4 matchups). Could have been the greatest pointless rivalry since Silver Charm v. Free House back in the late '90s. |

Not that it means Tahitian Warrior stayed, but didn't I read somewhere that Godolphin was going to leave a sizable string (in Florida I presume) this winter? |

That horse is a total joke. I'm surprised he is being mentioned for a g1 race. He would be demolished. |

It's age-restricted. Didn't see his Bold Ruler effort vs. his elders, but certainly his allowance races this summer were more than enough to take a shot.
