There is no reasoning with any of these suspensions——if he was given 30 days prior because of multiple occurrences shouldn’t this one be even longer——Lopez was given a 30-day suspension by the Gulfstream Park stewards for his role in a two-horse spill here on Jan. 31, 2019 that injured two jockeys, including Romero Maragh, who underwent spinal surgery the following day. When announcing the ruling in 2019, DiMauro said the suspension was lengthened due to multiple occurrences of Lopez “being either reprimanded, fined or suspended.”

What reaction?
I thought it being a spill in a big race with probably a large audience, GP might do something more than their usual nothing. My bad, expecting GP to act responsible. Apparently, the optics of a DQ in a featured race is worse for them than the safety of the horses and riders. Now, who times his suspension? If they let GP time it, he could be back rinding in 3 days.
