thanks again guys, I was with him as much as I could today and he was still really sleepy and out of it. Our visiting hours were over, I get home and answer the phone, and it is the nurse who told me they just took his breathing tube out. Then came the real suprise, my dad came on the phone. This absolutely made my day, he sounded great! I'm on my way back to see him now as they granted me and my brother permission.

Glad to hear things are going well Irish....

I'll tell you this, if my mom or dad are ever sick and are in the hospital, there isn't a chance in a hell that I am leaving their side, they will need to call the marines to get me out there.

What are the normal rules with visiting hours?

Maybe with a heart patient they're a little more strict?

Well my parents have owned a mini golf and batting cage business for over 26 years now, and the only people who work there are my brother, mom, dad, and me. My dad told us before his surgery to make sure it stays running good and to keep it open. I took time off my other job of making beds and have been working that everyday since so my mom can be with my dad. I didn't want to leave his side today, but it was either me or my mom who had to open up our golf place, and I knew it was important for my mom to stay by his side.

I just got home again from seeing him, they have strict hours in the intensive care section so the nurse told me to say my goodnight and stuff, didn't want to and he didn't want me to either, but I guess it is the rules. I have the nurses number to call and check on how he is doing whenever I want througout the night, and am going to be back first thing in the morning.

but yeah, they do have weird hours. I went there as soon as I closed our place down tonight and our time was winding down and they wanted us to go for the night, but then let me comeback about an hour later. I guess they had a shift change/paperwork and stuff that they had to do. Once he gets moved out of the ICU I think we can be with him 24/7.

I bet your father is very proud of you for keeping the business going during this time.

Fantastic news, it gets much easier from here. Hopefully he'll be back to full health in no time.
