For what it's worth, I think Gio Ponti is the only horse that can even touch Hatta Fort in here. It's encouraging to see Clement bring him back in a stakes race as he is often a bit more conservative, especially with a horse who is eligible for a N2X. He had a brutal trip in the BC Juvy Turf, which is not a revelation at all.
Prussian has been exposed for two of the most unbelievable trips of 2007 in his first two starts. He had no excuse last time out and was run down by a decent horse, but not anything close to what he will face here. It's also about 1000 times easier to wire the Monmouth lawn than it is the Widener. I'd need a much better price than you're going to get to get excited about this guy. This is a two horse race in my opinion and I certainly think Gio Ponti is capable of winning off the bench. NT |
