yes, an original event to the winter olympics. the US skier ran out of gas in the last 20m.

Biathlon and Curling (not Curlin) leave me "cold". Not taking anything away from the sport or the athletes who compete in them or the fans who are die hard, but it's just... not interesting (in my opinion).

I used to be such a fan of figure skating but not so much anymore.

My Winter Olympic idol was and remains Peggy Fleming who won the Gold Medal for singles figure skating in the 1968 Olympics in Grenoble, France. She wasn't an acrobat on ice - she was a ballerina. So graceful, a thing of great beauty. She just melted from one position into the next. Classic!

Her mother made her simple lime green costume for her USA Gold Medal performance.

Report that she was slightly injured in a Biden motorcade yesterday - apparently a U.S. delegation to the Olympics. Vonetta Flowers, another former Olympian (bobsled) was also slightly injured. Biden was not in the car that was in the accident.

I did like the German pair last night skating to Send in the Clowns. I didn't like the tinkling piano version of that song, but I do like the song and have ever since the great Judy Collins sang it. Actually, it's from the Broadway musical, "A Little Night Music", composed by Stephen Sondheim. Elizabeth Taylor appeared in the musical in 1977 and "sang" the song

Sorry for going off topic but wasn't Jean Simmons in the original?

She passed away recently. God she was beautiful.

They should have a winter games version of the decathlon. Have the guys start out by ski jumping, then let them do another event like cross country skiing, the next day they could do a little speed skating, then let them do the downhill and finish up with snowboarding. I'd watch that.

Curling would be much more entertaining if the participants were forced to drink shots like they do in shuffleboard which is a cousin of curling.

The dude announcing the figure skating said one of the pairs had very little "musicality".

I have been very disappointed with NBC's programming choices. I know they have professionals making these choices based on their projected ratings, but I would program their channels completely differently. I also don't need some cutesy feature on polar bears at the Hudson Bay in the middle of a sporting event in Vancouver. Save that garbage for daytime programming when you are trying to pull ratings from the stay at home moms.

I can't find all the other channels the Olympics are supposedly on. When I look for them, they aren't showing the Olympics. The only choice I had during east coast prime time last night was NBC, unless I am missing something.

I realize the re-scheduling of the Alpine Skiing events are killing them, but I like seeing sports and events that we normally don't get on American TV. The Winter X-Games were just on. I don't need to see it again.

I guess I'm just old.

All those cutesy things they show used to be interesting, but times have changed, and audiences have changed also. it's hard enough to pull off an event like Olympics coverage when things like weather run according to plan, but surely not in the conditions they have up there now.

msnbc, cnbc and universal some cable companies are not picking up the programing and primetime 1-5pm and 8-midnight, they are forcing you to watch nbc.
i like the cross-country and biathlon and ihave been taping that during the day. i couldn't care less about figure skating or stoners on snowboards.

I knew which channels they were, I literally can't find them on my cable dial. 2,000 channels and msnbc, cnbc and universal are not on my favorite channel button. I scrolled for 10 minutes last night only to see that they weren't showing anything.

I need to get into that schedule and fire up the dvr myself. I've been too lazy.

the "Other" American Julia Mancuso currently leads the downhill - awful looking crash just there, luckier the skier got up (eventually)

summer olympics is 99% athleticism + 1% "i'd never do that no matter what"

winter olympics is 30% athleticism + 30% "i'd never do that no matter what" + 30% "who the f thought of putting those 2 things together?" + ice dancing.

my $.02.

I actually got caught up in some curling action today, and was really disappointed when that guy for the US that looks like "the Rick" choked at the end. With that being said, there were a few hot curling chicks including the aforementioned Robillard.
