I don't hate him at all. I found it ridiculous when he was touted around here for the KY Derby, where he finished 11th ( and was never mentioned again until he showed up in this preposterous spot ), and now I find it even more ridiculous that he's being discussed seriously for THIS race.

Of course he will " run off the board " in this race. He can run the best race of his career and run 7th....or worse. So what. All that means is he's being misplaced. I guess if you're going to misplace your horses you might as well do it in a $5 million race. He is a decent horse, no doubt, but he's WAY over his head here.

AKA a Teuflesberg or Hard Spun type? I agree that he'll run as hard as he can, but I'm not sure running as hard as he can will equate to him finishing on the board here.

He could run the best race of his career plus 8 lengths and wouldn't hit the board here.

He wont run worse than 3rd. He had a trouble trip in the Derby, and had to be stopped on due to the fever leading up. Hes too honest a horse to discount in any field. Those who do play exotics and discount him will shake their head at the end of the day

Hes very live, they are all very live. There is noway for any of us to know how these horses will take to this surface. Id rather die on a horse giving me an effort at a long price than a middle priced horse that we do not know about

You can get every race but the Marathon in BRIS Ultimate PDF format at:

Once you're on the page, click the Sat link to get Saturday's races.

Default A little help for your wagers on BC

pass 2 yr old races

draw a line thru euros, too hot in La, to little time here to acclimate,

concentrate on cal-based horses

I'm an honest guy, and I give an honest effort. But Smooth Air in this field is like putting me in a mile race with track athletes. I'm honest, I'd give my best effort, but in the end I would finish dead last and out of breath. It's not a knock on the horse...the horse is mis placed that's all.

I'd take a thousand to 1 or even 50-1 and included on pc 3's.

I can't believe people are talking about this horse again.
We had to listen to this nonsense before the Derby too: http://www.derbytrail.com/forums/sho...ight=smooth%29

I wasted a lot of time in that thread trying to talk people out of betting a horse that was obviously hopeless, and I won't do that again, but I will say that this horse has ABSOUTELY no chance in this race. Zero. None.

Great point, ignore the Euros at your own risk IMO.

Ah, nothing like irrational, poorly thought out blanket commandments for an extremely nuanced 16-race event. At least he'll be gone until Derby time.

I can't believe anyone thinks this horse can hit the board. . . I don't really see a horse in here he should beat.
