It was Badge at monster odds, but I didn't know it was named after a song?

As for the show horse, his name was Badge. Doesn't he stand up in NY somewhere? I didn't realize he was named after a song.

You don't know the Cream song " Badge? "

Love is my Badge.

Well, the same owner had a horse named Slowhand.

It is Clapton's nickname.

Did you know that Editor's Note won a 6F race at Belmont as a 2YO on opening day after Saratoga? Pretty incredible considering what a plodder he was.

Similarly, Birdstone turned into a plodder, but I'm sure you remember his 6F Saratoga debut. Pounded down in a full field of 12 and he blitzed them in fast time.

There were not 12 horses in his debut. There were 12 horses, maybe 14 actually, in Proud Accolade's debut. That's probably the race you are confusing him with.

Their legendary farewell concert may have been in 1969 though they had a reunion tour of a few shows last year.

They were Clapton's first band I believe.

Surely you've hear of " Sunshine of Your Love. "

Correct, there was 9 in Birdstone's debut. Didn't Proud Accolade debut in 2004? I recall him battling Afleet Alex.

You're right....I'm confused.

But Proud Accolade did beat a big field in his debut. He was the most impressive 2YO winner that meet ( with Sun King being the most impressive loser ).

It would have hurt more if I was older than 6 when it was released.....and if it mattered that I'm ancient.
