A quote from my favorite comedian Robin Williams:

However, his musings, if you take the time to read them and follow them, are genuinely smart and funny and frequently hysterical. I'm not trying to insult those that don't "get it" saying this. There isn't anything 'to get'... He is an agent provocateur here and most often defuses more than incites. But as an agatator, I understand that some are turned off. But most miss him when he goes on his frequent 'walkabouts' or would really miss him if he left.

There's room for nearly any type of Internet denizen here, and though he does go over the top, generally he is 100% harmless and a contributor to the atmosphere of manic frivolity that pervades the Forum.
But usually at the expense of someone else....

Personally I've laughed at many things he has said, but I just don't think anyone should be so mean whether it's a joke to him or not and honestly it seems like you support him being mean to people. Like that whole Champagne Room thing? Sorry, Steve, but that was rude to me and granted I'm your guest here but I thought you were a kinder person than that.

The board has changed a lot, but if you think it's because of Morty, I think you are way off. I also don't think he is rude at all. He is 100% kidding around.
have fun.

Nic,

I apologize.. This takes me by surprise. It seemed at the time in that series of exchanges you were having fun with what was going on. If I was mistaken, I'm sorry that I contributed to any discomfort.. Bethani and I do our best to edit/delete things that we perceive are upsetting people and appear inappropriate. I clearly misinterpreted the situation.

I don't think anyone goes out of their way to be mean in threads, including Morty. We try to be judicious in interpreting intent in monitoring the Forum, and have been accused over being overzealous a number times.. oblivious others.. with regards to people's sensitivities. I appreciate the frank assessment above and will take it to heart in regards to future scenarios.

I really appreciate the apology and at that point I was just trying to ignore him and then I figured I would try to make amends and joke back with him after your comment...as we both know it didn't work much when he and Payson Dave made fun of my appearance.

Honestly, I didn't bring this up because I would like to see him go because I don't. We all know I was no saint when Grits pissed me off This forum should and is fun, but there is also a great wealth of information to read with people like yourself, Cannon, BTW, Drugs etc and I'm sure there are lots of people out there looking to improve their game that join up. But, at the same time, if a new poster doesn't understand the jokes around here they are not going to want to stay and I'm sure you don't want that.

Again, thank you very much for the apology.

my only point was that for me, he is a large distraction on this place. much much more than any other person and I said we ALL go OT.

after talking to people directly this week I realized that many people have the same feeling as I do but they don't say anything.

no big deal, you morty people are enjoying the board more, others find it tiresome and distracting.
Out of curiosity, why are you posting in the above format now? Have you gone off your rocker? LOL

Sightseek,
I sincerely offer an appology to you...truely was not intended to make fun of your appearance...you are obviously a very attractive woman...the modified pic was an attempt at humor..I do truely appologize that it offended you...it will not happen again.

Maybe if you're his "friend", then Morty is 100% harmless and entertaining, but if you make the mistake of getting annoyed and responding to him (like I have), then he is relentlessly vindictive and disrespectful (I made #2 on his list in a thread which has since been deleted).

That being said, I have to admit that I often find him to be clever and funny, in the way that Steve discovered him to be. And, despite the fact that he routinely states that the worst thing in the world for him would be if I defended him, I applaud Steve's belief that being occasionally annoyed is a small price to pay for being exposed to diversity in thought. Steve has made it clear what sort of behavior he will not tolerate. Absent that, when you start excluding people because you disagree with what they say, you're headed down a slippery slope.

And, finally, for the record, and despite Morty's frequent insinuations, if you got charged with a crime in Philadelphia, there's few people in the world you would rather have on your side than me.

There are a lot of people here I really like so much but today? Some of you surprise and amaze me. I don't mean that in a good way.

How unbelievably shitty that he would quit and no one says anything.

Some people quit forums and make a big production, compose a dramatic farewell post and yet return within days. That's cool and I'm not talking about anyone in particular here. It is what it is and i accept everyone and understand it when it happens.

This though?

I've had ups and downs with AJ..... but mostly ups.

This is a guy who is a serious handicapper who spent the biggest day at Arlington last year not doing what he usually does but standing - for hours, camera in hand, waiting to grab a few shots of a horse for a complete stranger. He knew I'd have given anything to be there, to see Ace in person, and so he spent the entire day standing in that one spot.

For me.

For someone on this forum.

For someone he'd never met.

THAT defines him.I mean talk about kind-hearted.

So this is it? He quits and no one says a word?

I'm very fortunate to know him and while i do think it sucks that he's gone..... and he IS gone, I won't try to convince him to come back. I know he won't.....

Some get irritated with me for having to say goodbye to every horse that leaves too soon, but i believe in celebrating the good and that everyone deserves a moment in the sun. A 5K claimer who leaves this earth trying? Damned right I'll post it. They're all important just like we're all important. They all matter just like we all matter.

So while it's a kinda strange comparison, no way does he leave here without me saying goodbye anyway... even if he'll never read it.

I must not be very smart. I didn't take those two words as AJ quitting Derby Trail.

If he has in fact left for good, I will miss him.

I don't like anybody leaving the board. I miss PG1985, Oracle and many others. It would be awfully boring if everyone agreed on everything, some of the most entertaining reads are the disagreements and fights.
