The track is just a little bit sticky. It seems to be causing some problems for a few of the runners.

Maradona was a very impressive winner in the second race on the card. He won by three with his ears pricked. He's heading for the Hawke's Bay Guineas on October 2, and on that performance, he'll be a huge chance!

The Gold Trail is about an hour away now. I'll go for Banchee ahead of Dating and a longshot, Macavity, who is trained by Roger James and finished nicely in her only start so far.

I'll stay with Keep The Peace ahead of Wall Street in the Windsor Park Plate. St Germaine for third.

Hope they're great races.

Rememba Howe wins the Gold Trail!

She was a maiden two weeks ago...now she's won two stakes races. She looks very, very good. Zennista second, Dating third.

Banchee didn't seem to like the track and also seemed to resent being bumped by the winner about 200m out from the line. She was making a bit of a run until that happened, but then she gave up and stopped. She finished about 7th. She'll do better next time.

The latest on Miss Lee...

Quote:
Katie Lee continues to do well as she marks time before her Melbourne campaign.

"She'll run at Hastings on October 2 in the G3 1400m Rose Bowl and then go to Australia to run in the G3 mile at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day."

Plans are then to run Katie Lee in the G1 A$500,000 Myers Classic on Derby Day (October 30) at Flemington for the opening of the Melbourne Cup carnival.

Really happy about this. I love that they're keeping her at 1400m to a mile, and it's awesome that her Hastings race is on the day I go to every year! I'll be there this year too, of course.

Two nice stakes races for 3yo at Ellerslie yesterday.

Bonecrusher Stakes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuzOW3EoGZs
Soliloquy Stakes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnwksbMi3G8

Hoofit was fourth in a G1 last year and stakes-placed, so it was good to see him finally win one.

Singapore Sling decided not to take the turn in her last start. Naughty! But she was on her best behaviour yesterday and looks like a talented filly.

VERY nice ed!

When Singapore Sling passes the wire, what exactly is the race caller saying?

"... and welcome back ????"?

Thanks!

* * *

Just watched the Bonecrusher and very nice as well BUT was rooting for Upsala.

Last?

Upsala didn't like the wet track. I think he can be forgiven for that.

I think George said welcome back to the jockey, Vinnie Colgan. He broke two vertebrae in April, and this was his first day back riding. Nice way to come back!

The last Sunline foal (3yo filly by Hussonet) makes her debut tomorrow.

1 2X Simply Brilliant (AUS) 14 57 57.0 Michael Coleman Murray & Bjorn Baker, Cambridge
2 345X La Pinnicle 12 56 57.0 Opie Bosson Peter & Casey Lock, Te Rapa
3 53X My Mojito 4 56 57.0 Trudy Thornton Martin Cleland, Cambridge
4 0X049 Abit Stormy 15 54 57.0 Scratching Les Collins, Cambridge
5 7358X Diamonds In Time 17 54 57.0 Jason Collett (a) James Hatton, Takanini
6 5 Up Town Girl 10 52 57.0 Maija Vance (a2) Ben Foote, Byerley Park
7 Born To Rock (AUS) 5 50 57.0 Vinnie Colgan Stephen McKee, Ardmore
8 Pangani (AUS) 6 50 57.0 Mark Du Plessis John Sargent, Matamata
9 Secret Love 9 50 57.0 Samantha Collett Gary Barkla, Cambridge
10 Sentence 7 50 57.0 Andrew Calder Clark Judd, Cambridge
11 Sunsett 11 50 57.0 Sam Spratt Stephen McKee, Ardmore
12 Valencia's Image 16 50 57.0 Craig Grylls Michael Moroney & Andrew Clarken, Matamata
13 7X La Grande Dame 8 50 57.0 Mark Hills Stephen Marsh, Cambridge
14 8 Pubs 3 50 57.0 Chad Ormsby Graeme & Mark Sanders, Te Awamutu
15 0X Waltz In The Park 13 50 57.0 Jakki Good, Waiuku
16 54X Queen Of Pop 1 55 57.0 Donna, Dean Logan & Chris Gibbs, Ruakaka
17 5X7 Savont (AUS) 2 51 57.0 Scratching Lauren Brennan, Cambridge

She has already won a trial. She'll be the favourite, but this isn't an easy field. Simply Brilliant was beaten in a photo finish in her only start by Pooka's Sister, who has been placed in a stakes race since. Pangani is a daughter of brilliant sprinting mare Flying Babe. Queen Of Pop is a half-sister to G2 winner Le Baron.

I hope she goes well.

That's a great picture!

Stephen McKee said she "lost the plot" today. She was very naughty behind the gates, rearing up and repeatedly refusing to go into the gates, and then she was throwing her head around early in the race. That must have sapped up all her energy, because she had the lead at the turn, but faded out of the money in the last bit.

McKee says she's the fastest horse in his stable and will learn a lot from today.

Man, I don't even know where to start! My head is spinning!

Okay well first off and most importantly, come home safe, Sir Slick .

You'll be there, ed? Jesus Christ I cannot imagine seeing him and katie in person!!!!! Lucky!!! Take pictures!

The field for the Spring Classic is like a wishlist of who you'd want to see... all together.

Very exciting!!!!!

My head is going to explode now.

Exactly. Hope he'll be OK.

I'll be there! Driving down tomorrow. Very exciting. Those two races should be amazing. The Guineas will be great too - the top 2yo boys from last season (Jimmy and Cellarmaster) up against a new bunch who are looking so good. We'll see how remarkable He is.
