Interesting question.

Who cares?

We have players out so Shapiro and Wedge can make excuses...even though a lot of them weren't doin' sa hot before "injuries"

I think it was 2 weeks ago for Martinez' elbow surgery.....I can't believe he would be back in another month ready to play. I really don't know, though.

You should have taken Sizemore.

If you are refer'n to (the 1 da only) Andruw Jones, then Probably after the Allstar Break. You can see from the video (on the right hand side) that he hasn't lost the weight that could possibly be slowing him down. Towards the end of the video you can see Torre admit to asking Andruw to get the surgery when he did(Andruw wanted to get it done after the season.) Joe was thrilled to have him get the surgery. FKD up my bet with da Chucksta though.

Looking ahead to next year--based on this year---we don't have ,based on who is starting right now, a ss,3rd baseman,1st baseman, probably 2nd baseman and we don't have a anywhere Dellucci playsman......nor a dhman....rightfield is a question as well as left....and they both display Wedge's freak out tendencies.

We don't have a closer nor a bull pen...nor a 4th nor 5th starter... and a very good chance of no Sabbathia... nor a manager ...ditto the gm.

Boy.

SOMEBODY has a lot of work to do.

Why da fck ain't you got a closer? I mean DBACKS sent their star closer to Houston. Lidge could of been gotten. He looked pretty good blowin away Bradley Saturday night(with hi heat.) I am pretty sure that something should of been done about this problem.

Phillies January 18: Agreed to terms with pitcher Brad Lidge for a 1 year contract at 6.35 million. Could have been the Indians..No? What am I missing here? He has 19 saves, and given up 3 earned runs.

They would rather give ByrdWatcher 7.7 million.

Of course...if they ddin't throw away Guthrie 2 years ago, who became an instant success with Baltimore,....they could have signed your guy.

Are you beginning to see what I am talking about?

Mortimer...your analysis was almost dead on perfect I believe...excellent job. (As always I think you're just a bit too hard on here's Jhonny. although a problem, he is far, far, far from the top one this year.)

And what was a bad offseason for Shapiro you highlighted all his blunders, you still have to give him some credit for getting 3 all-star caliber players for Colon (Lee, Sizemore, PHillips, although as you stated the PHillips subsequent blunder downgraded that great trade somewhat) and the Perez for Cabrera trade could still end up being an all-time steal once Asdrubal gets his stroke back and is playing shortstop...which will happen. (you could credit that trade I think by Shapiro to getting them to post season last year as the second he was put into the starting lineup, they started to win a LOT.) Here's Jhonny could still end up helping the team at 3rd base.

Although the Hafner scenario was quite predictable as he was not any good last year, the Martinez one was not, and the Betancourt implosion was certainly not predictable. Dellucci/Michaels was always a disaster as was Borowski as was Byrd, and as you always state given a choice of two guys hitting .220 why on earth wouldn't you play the stellar fielding Gutierrez every single day over Dellucci??

Well you are right...but don't forget Phillips was the key for the Indians.

So they throw him away. That's the part that bothers me. It's not that they don't make some good trades and draft picks, but they never stick with young players. They always stack it with has beens and the young ,talented guys get to show it ...somewhere else.

And they continue to hoist the great Borowski over our heads. Can't at least 60 percent of high school pitchers throw a straight fastball harder than him?? They are a travesty.

all truth and a wasted gem by Clifton Phifer Lee, and Betancourt had a very rare good game as well. All to the trash courtesy of Mr Borowski.

Oh my God.

To be honest...knowing they are shipping out CC and probably some young talent for some Wedge players ,ie.. "people who can help us now" ( WedgieSpeak).

What it means is they couldn't help us in their best years which are 3 limb replacements past.

These guys have gutted the farm system and it's going to take years to fix this mess.

And it's mainly been just through complete messes of drafts that it's been gutted...horrid scouting etc as they haven't really been trading top prospects at the deadline or anything.

And look at who they have given long term big contracts too...two physical messes, Hafner and Westbrook. They're hurtin big time.
