Default Name the Senator

Name the Senator:

Quote:
The Senator offered unusually blunt assessments of the fringe elements of the Republican party and conservative media on Thursday, calling the popular and bombastic Fox News host Glenn Beck a "cynic" whose show was antithetical to American values.

"Only in America can you make that much money crying," the Senator said of Beck. "Glenn Beck is not aligned with any party. He is aligned with cynicism and there has always been a market for cynics. But we became a great nation not because we are a nation of cynics. We became a great nation because we are a nation of believers."

Appearing before a crowd of Washington's elite power players and opinion-makers, the Senator spoke largely without filter, offering acidic takes on subject well beyond Beck. The Senator called the birther community that questions the president's U.S. citizenship "crazy" and implored them to "knock this crap off" so the country could get on to more important matters.

"I'm here to tell you that those who think the president was not born in Hawaii are crazy," said the Senator who went on to dispel another myth: that Obama is a closet Muslim.

Speaking before the conference, the Senator also ventured to call "crazy" a recent article on Newsmax, laying out how a military coup could overtake the Obama administration.

He said he was deeply worried about "the passions of cable TV" whipping up the emotions of the public. "If you get rewarded for being a jerk you are going to keep doing it," he said, before labeling "Talk radio, MoveOn.org, and the 24-hour news cycle" as the main culprits in polarizing the nation.

"Can you imagine doing D-Day with cable television?" he asked. "Can you imagine writing the Constitution -- you know, O'Reilly says Ben Franklin's giving in on something. Can you imagine having to do that in this environment?"

Maybe he's just getting in line for the Juan, Maria & all other illegals including Auntie Obama’s welcome to free health coverage (comparable to private health care) as we won't be carding according to the Dem proposal? Don't worry we'll tax those w/health coverage and fine & jail those who refuse.

graham is a huge disappointment. you do everything you can to hang electoral albatrosses like rush and beck around the neck of the republican party and a guy like him comes along talking sensibly.

it's good to know he'll remain under pressure from extremists. maybe you guys can run someone against him in the primaries? please?

btw dell: it takes more balls to stand up against a tsunami of stupid then it does to go with the flow like most other republicans.

but i expect him to fold like the rest of the wimps that have briefly tried to stand up on 2 feet. 3 days. early next week at the latest. you'll make sure he has to.

thanks for that.

thanks for proving my point.

i don't think too many gay democrats are in the closet. that seems to be a republican specialty.

and please keep eating your children. it's great entertainment.

but good job putting me in my place. obviously gay men can't have political spines. i don't know how i missed that.

Everytime I see the name I swear they are reffering to a girl, but NOOO Lindsey is a man. anyway, what he said was very true. especially about the birther crap. its just ridiculous and crazy and gets in the way of MUCH more important issues.

you missed my point which was republicans are able to elect gay politicians despite the notion from the left that we hate. Get in an agument w/BWS and you'll see spine. Kinda like when the left here was unable to deal with the fact Dick Cheney loved and accepted his gay daughter.

Do you think it's a fair statement that the majority of those that want to supress gay rights, supress gay marriage and supress the same benefits for gays couples that hetero couples get are Republicans? I'm thrilled Cheney embraced his lesbian daughter but that is an aberration from the right, not the norm.

yes to your statement but I don't believe it's close to an aberration as you put it. 50/50 at best. As I have always said, gays deserve the right to know the misery of marriage just like heteros.

no way it's 50-50. not when you consider how many ultra right religious folks there are.
altho arkansas votes mostly democrat, there are a lot of bible thumpers who write letters almost daily about the hell bound gays in our midst. so, altho it's an aberration with the reps, there are a lot of southern dems who are in lock step regarding gays, abortion rights (or lack thereof) and marriage rights. it was just a couple years ago that the dems here voted overwhelmingly to change the state constitution to specify marriage was for a man and a woman only.

you call the guy a "gaping puss" and link in an whispery little scandal sheet as a way to prove republicans love gays?

where did I say Repubs 'love' gays?

We are able to elect them and love them as gay daughters as hard as that is for the left to accept. You think Lindsey Graham being gay is a secret?
