That's more true with mediocre n' good players. All great players want to win a ring. There came a point where great players were able to move by free agency to more competitive teams. Barry Bonds, and Vlade Guerrero are the two best examples of guys (with HOF credentials) that had chances to put their teams over the top, and failed. Don't tell me they didn't have the chance. In 2005, Vlade had the chance, and provided nothing against the Chisox. Last night, the Yanks were up by 2 runs. There were 2 outs in the 8th, and a man on 2nd base. A HOF type hitter is thinking what in that situation? If there were no outs, I could understand his approach, but with 2 outs, he has to be trying to hit something very hard. Like a Pujols would be doing. No, he settles for punching it somewhere. They're still down a run, and a great player (in that situation) doesn't leave it up to someone else. There went his shot. He settled, and he will live out his days looking at the rings on his Dominican Friends. His 1st two years with the Halos were the years he sure could of gotten a ring if he played like a great player does(when they want a ring.) AROD, TEX, Burnett, and C.C. are all good, (or great) players. They all moved from lesser teams to this one. If you're a great player, it earns you that right. Maybe it didn't 30-40 years ago, but now it does. It's less true with the borderline HOF candidates (like your boy Biggio.) There again though, he had his chances, too. He didn't step up. He hit .222 against the Chisox. If he had 2-4 hits per game, and they lost, then your point would be in play. Fact is you aren't that big on hitting in the post, or getting rings. So, you're gunna use every excuse possible for them not performing well enough to get a ring. Believe me, if Biggio hit like a great player in the World Series, then he would have a ring. They had the pitching, and defense. Bonds came very close to getting a ring. Lets face it, that was an uptight locker room due to him, and Kent. LOL..Two a-holes on the same team. That's another future HOFamer(Kent) that would have a ring if he wasn't an a-hole type person. There's four that came very close, but something about them(to me Biggio is good not great) kept them from getting that ring. Now, lets see who steps up this time, and demands their fkn ring. See? AROD has his chance. Great players will usually get their chance for that ring. The pitching on both sides is good. So, this is when great players can dominate, because they have the pitching n' defense to hold a lead (if they step up to score runs.) Part of the reason you don't think great players can necessarily get a ring is because you tend to like grinders. They usually aren't impactful enough to get a ring. That's Biggio. Ichiro could easily have signed with a competitive team in 2007. Right? He should have, but he fkd up (he thought that the Mariners were getting close to being really good.) There ya go. All of the deserving ones on your list had a shot. Even if people like Helton. He had his shot in 2007.
