Well not too much to discuss about his run (of course I love him to death and had already accepted that this whole never actually winning thing should be treated as a rather endearing quality at this point) but what about restarting the race? Thoughts?

Atlantic Equine could write volumes on how to mismanage a racehorse. He tried today and raced into contention at the top of the hill, but ultimately was in way too deep (18th; beaten 40 lengths). All is not lost though, he's 10 years old and is eligible for Veteran's chases. Wonder if the ownership will have enough sense to go that route. Hopefully beforehand, they will find a really easy novice hurdle to win so that he will regain his confidence.

As for the start, I thought the first go was good. Don't like standing starts and it adversely affected my play, Monetaire, who might have gotten up to win had he not been disadvantaged at the start. Oh well, that's racing.

Still lots to look forward to. For me, I will be on Coneygree in the Gold Cup tomorrow and Balthazar King in the National next month.

Thanks for that and yeah, a confidence builder couldn't hurt.

Good luck with Coneygree tomorrow. Rooting for Bobs Worth but am thinking of playing Road to Riches. I like Many Clouds and think he has a good chance as well but would assume the odds on him come down (not exactly sure who the 2nd favorite is behind Silviniaco Conti but I'd guess it will be him by tomorrow morning),so will take a chance with RTR.

The 4th is quite the loaded race. (Sorry about Hunt Ball, missed him while traveling) Some very impressive margins of victory by the horses in this race. I may just be boxing the horses you both have mentioned. Cheers!!

We almost had the exacta.

Brilliant result!!! Coneygree is such a lovely economical jumper. Accomplishing this as a novice is unheard of. Huge thrill for me watching this wonderful athlete, plus landing a very nice touch.

Well done, Scanman! Just outstanding (and you are far too kind)!

Beautiful horse.

Hope you listened to Scanman (and for the record I am comically terrible with the jumps horses so you might want to rethink listening to me. ).

This was the type of race I said he could win in an earlier posting. Glad to see that his owners finally "woke up".

Particularly good, because it had a decent purse for a minor venue like Fakenham. I'm sure he could win another little one or two like this before his gets a hurdles rating. Then, who knows if he will be able to compete handicaps.

... and I meant to comment on that and yes, you were dead on with that!

Well I am happy. He didn't beat much, that's for sure but hey... gotta find the joy where you can in this life.

Absolutely. I'll be curious to see where he pops up next. Summer ground is "his" ground, so I expect the owners to keep him going throughout the summer.

Well you were right and I was absolutely thrilled to hear about his win (2 in a row baby! What kind of ominous sign is that anyway? ) so thank you for that.

Will have to add Worcester to my list of stuff to catch up on... I would imagine I can access it on either tvg or ATR... ah well will find a way to witness this tremendous machine beating three others home.

Very happy!

edit - Just read the sad news about his sire, Winged Love. That's a shame.

After the two facile wins, I would have thought that they would keep him going. Maybe there are no races for him. I'll keep checking the entries.

Interesting new about Hunt Ball: http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse...=last7DaysNews .

The US Grand National is a pipe dream. He simply is not at that level. Will be curious to see how his prep race will go in September. Wonder if he will race against any horses with some measure of ability.

The most exciting news is that they are finally going to send him over timber next year. Elizabeth Voss is an excellent choice and will do a great job preparing him for his campaign.

Thanks for the news! I'm excited! I know he'd be in over his head but happy to read any kind of update at all at this point.
