serfs taking care of the noblemen. looks like neither. seems from what i've read that the car chase and shooting ended at the capitol by chance, not by design...but who knows? word that she's dead....or that she's in custody. but that's par for the course, with news outlets all wanting to be 'first', but not necessarily correct.

![]() well...
just read one article that claims the woman tried to ram her car thru the white house gates, couldn't do so, and sped to the capitol with police in pursuit... a child was with her, but wasn't harmed. still seeing she's 'in custody' and also that she was killed by police.... scary stuff.

Lawmakers and staff were told to shelter in place after shots rang out outside the Capitol, and one sheltered lawmaker took the opportunity to rag on Democrats' "violent rhetoric" during the government shutdown.

again, what nerve: Boehner answered by batting blame back toward Obama and his "my-way-or-the-highway approach." Boehner said that if the president would negotiate to fix flaws in "Obamacare," the shutdown could end. "The president's insistence on steamrolling ahead with this flawed program is irresponsible," said Boehner, R-Ohio. my way or the highway? congress passed this law a few years ago. it's a law, because congress voted on it and passed it, and sent it to the prez to sign. i know that the house voted 41 times to repeal it-all exercises in futility. now, if anyone is exhibiting 'my way or the highway' thinking, it's people like boner and cruz. they have shutdown the entire govt because a portion of one branch of our govt doesn't like a law that was voted on, passed, and deemed constitutional. all three branches passed this law. enough with the bs people!!! and altho many don't like the law, most like the shutdown even less.

![]() Meanwhile, why not make some political hay -
>>> Barack Obama is having a lot of fun using the government shutdown to squeeze the public in imaginative ways. The point of the shutdown game is to see who can squeeze hardest, make the most pious speech and listen for the applause. It’s a variation on the grade-school ritual of “you show me yours, and I’ll show you mine.”..... The Park Service appears to be closing streets on mere whim and caprice. The rangers even closed the parking lot at Mount Vernon, where the plantation home of George Washington is a favorite tourist destination. That was after they barred the new World War II Memorial on the Mall to veterans of World War II. But the government does not own Mount Vernon; it is privately owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. The ladies bought it years ago to preserve it as a national memorial. The feds closed access to the parking lots this week, even though the lots are jointly owned with the Mount Vernon ladies. The rangers are from the government, and they’re only here to help. “It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation,” an angry Park Service ranger in Washington says of the harassment. “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”<<< http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...s-of-the-game/ |

![]() And in the throes of the shutdown, this article reminds me that the ACA, despite the attempt to provide health insurance for all, will still fail America in that, unfortunately, there is no cure for stupid.

![]() the kock bros are telling younger people that they'd be better off 'paying the fine'. yes, because it makes perfect sense to gamble that because one is young, they won't need insurance. nothing bad EVER happens to young people.
![]() my husband works at a place owned by them; they showed all the employees a video the other day about being taxed on good health policies-cadillac plans. so, now the employees (including my husband) are up in arms...well, hubby isn't up in arms now, when i explained that the health care plan they offer him and his co-workers is NOT a cadillac plan by any stretch of the imagination. but who's going to explain that to all his hourly co-workers? back to the article just above.... how does this collett person say that the govt has no role, while stating that the 10 kids are on medicaid? if that isn't cognitive dissonance, i don't know what is!!

I think the not-so-young gentleman in the article (what is he thinking? He's 41. Dude, your prostate is soon going to be doing things you're not going to be liking, if it isn't already) has persuaded himself that he pays more in taxes than he's getting back. A lot of people who get the EITC don't make the connection between the money that is taken out of their paychecks and the several thousand dollar check they get from the IRS in the spring. It doesn't occur to them that they are getting back everything they paid in taxes. And they don't get inflation. People on Medicare now are getting far, far more out of it than they ever put in. And I don't have an issue with this; I don't want him or his kids to starve, and I want old people to have some security in their declining years, but dude, at least show some appreciation for the fact that you live in a nation that has some kind of safety net and accept that you are depending on it. Those ain't your own bootstraps you're pulling yourself up by, because, without government aid, you ain't got no boots. I am interested to hear Dell's thoughts on the man's family planning choices, seeing as how Dell has, in the past, expressed some strong opinions on poor urban families. ![]()
