All time great ? Look at his body of work compared to Spectacular Bid. Bid is an all time great. Arrogate ran some great races, but you can count them on one hand.

4 massive races....in a row, vs the absolute best competition around. At 4 different tracks. Whatever you say though.

I like you sometimes and you have a sharp opinion for the most part (somtimes clouded by your blind love of Bob and a few others). You, along with a few others, make this board interesting. Not Dougie Sal interesting, but interesting nonetheless.

Hope we all crush these summer meets!

Freddy, his win in Florida was easily the least impressive of his four straight stakes wins, but what was he supposed to do? Have a Dubai like trip? Have Chrome show up like in the BCC? Run like he did in the Travers, a performance we likely wont see again in the next 30 years?

The fact that a track record performance doesn't make it a massive race, in your eyes, should tell you something.

I agree it was least impressive, but he just jogged around the track. Never really asked. Look at what the also runs have come back to do, and he crushed them. If that's his least impressive race, then that alone is impressive.

With all due respect to Arrogate who ran some really fast races I still think American Pharoahs run in 2015 was one of the best we have seen in a long time. 5 wins in 12 weeks including the grueling triple crown, a haskel win, tiring 2nd in short rest travers and topped off with a brilliant 2:00 minute classic romp. That horse loved to run and wish we could have seen him at 4. Arrogate may come back in next race but its hard to love a horse that only ran 5 races in the last 12 months and the last one terrible.

(emphasis added)

It's harder for me to love a horse that only ran 11 times in its career, and not much of it against formidable competition.

I wouldn't call ether horse "great". Yet.

Wow. I think i have heard it all now. The same people that defend Songbird question Arrogate??
Sure American Pharoah won the TC, but other then his Classic what other race makes him even competitive with Arrogates 4 big races?

I probably need to be working instead of this but to be clear here I stated AP's 2015 run was one of the greats. No horse in over 30 years passed that gauntlet of races. His breeders cup win was equal to Arrogates in my opinion although the hardest thing in this sport is comparing races as there are too many variables. That's what makes betting fun. I too would have loved to see him run at 4 and beat up Chrome. I never said he was the greatest. I'm not a songbird lover at all but I give the horse its due as it wins the races its in. As for Arrogate I stated it ran some very strong races but I'm a fan of horse that run and compete more often. To each his own as I go back to the grind of work.

If Arrogate doesn't win another race, is Arrogate truly better than even Pleasantly Perfect?
