Most voters are stupid. Gas prices are usually blamed on the President. It's the nature of the beast.

bob - after 9/11 , did the administration do a good job on preventing attacks or do you think al qaeda made their hit on 9/11 and just decided that was all they wanted to do so there was nothing to prevent

Most Americans are stupid. That's why so many of them watch American Idol.

Love that show. Ray Wise (Twin Peaks) is terrific as the Devil. I don't think they are bringing it back. Kinda sucked the way they ended that last episode. Maybe a TNT, FX or TBS will pick it up and they can cuss. That would be cool!

I ask again... WHO CARES!?!?!?!?

If he worshiped worms n' bugs, so as long as it didn't interfere with his positions/policies, why does it matter?

Why do people care so much about religion in this country?

I'm not sure they do? He was elected President by a majority of the country. All I ask for is consistency. He can't have it both ways. And had he told his audience in Cairo of his acceptence of Jesus instead of making up who invented the pen and his family's Islamic background you would have witnessed a country who cares far more about religion than we can ever imagine.

By the way I'd never vote for anyone who worshipped worms and bugs even if they were the most conservative repulican in history. But that's just me.

Especially in politicians who are probably the least likely group to have any real religious conviction. Knock his policy because lord knows there is plenty to knock. But his being or not being a Muslim doesnt and shouldnt really matter.

If the Republican Party took the above to heart,
they could win some elections again after the 8
year mess (really a 6 year mess imo). The Democrats turn to
run the country in a very difficult economy.

The Republican party has to be willing to step back up and dampen down the extreme, ultra-conservative far-right zealot wing of the party (about 24% of registered GOP voters) - not continue to let them run the show and be the public face of the party. While chasing the other 75% of the GOP away.

The GOP courted this group heavily in order to win the past two elections, and now the GOP is left dealing with the fallout of giving them a voice. This group of GOP members sabotaged McCain's campaign and ensured his non-election just by showing up at GOP rallies and speaking.

After watching the GOP elite cowtow to Rush Limbaugh, however, earlier in the year, I'll be surprised if that happens between now and 2012. But one can always hope. I think we just have to let this part of the party literally die out. The age demographics of the entire country are working against this segment of the GOP, and in favor of the Democrats, over the next 20 years.

There are plenty of young Republicans less than age 40, let them come up and be the new face of the party, drag the party into this century. Maybe the GOP can be a viable political force again in 2020.

Thank god we have finally elected an intelligent and highly educated President, who can speak on a world stage, and start to regain the respect America has lost in the world. A President with a sophisticated world view.
