The part of the headline you are ignoring is one of the main reasons the GOP lost this past election, and why the GOP will keep losing elections, as it's associated with age demographics: Not this part: “Conservatives” Are Single-Largest Ideological Group - But this part: "Percentage of “liberals” higher this decade than in early ’90s"

Not when the state has zero interest in using the money for any "economic stimulus", and wants to use it pay down their previously acquired debt, etc. Yes, having rules about what states can do with received stimulus money stinks! It should just be free pork!

![]() The independents questioned involved asking them about their Congressional ballot voting preferences only, and "Support for Democrats is up two points from last week, while support for the GOP is up three points. Support for the GOP is just one point below its highest level found over the past year. Last week’s results for the Democrats tied the lowest level of support for the party during the same period. " The highest level for the GOP last year was pretty terrible, and it's still below that. The election results played that out. Now, people, after overwhelmingly "throwing the bums out", and selecting an overwhelmingly Democratic congress, and it seems the independents polled want to get more GOP back into the Congress. I go for that, too. We'll see what happens in a couple years.

If pork money had been used to pay down debt in states, they wouldnt need pork. Why do you insist that the stimulus money is going to actually stimulate the economy when it most certainly wont The Federal money given to the state is almost entirely used for social programs or for unnecessary short term projects that are hardly crucial. Think CA wouldnt be better off using their stimulus money paying down its debt ? Paying down states debt would be far more beneficial for the states population as a whole but it isnt sexy, it doesnt win the votes of the socially needy and the Federal govt wouldnt get much credit. |
