When did Debussy lose lengths due to anyone in that race, maybe a length, MAYBE, leaving the backstretch (but that was due to others quickening before he did).

It's not just about losing ground to me, it's about being completely thrown off your game, rushed up, backed down, then asked to run your fastest quarter in the third quarter of a five quarter race, and STILL being in the frame at the end.

I don't know about 30 - but he's unquestionably the best turf rider since Bailey retired - and for my money he's better than Bailey ever was in turf races.

I doubt it.

I would obviously expect a much deeper group of Euro's to show up for the BC Turf than the 3 who came over for the AP Million today.

Running over the top of Gio Ponti isn't exactly impressive when he applies the air breaks like he did. The 3rd place finisher in the Million got a really oddball ride. He reared at the start - pushed the pace - and his rider acted as though the 1/4 pole was really the finish line. That was like vintage Jamie Spencer.

Value wise you are going to get a better price on Dominguez than you would on Bailey. HOWEVER when the going gets tough I would take bailey over Dominguez anyday. Dominguez is a great common every day claiming rider but he is no Bailey.

By the way: Bailey had a ton of caddy's for guys like Mott and Frankel in those big Gr 1 turf races.

Nice link. Dominguez wins his lone BC win. What does that prove??

If I could only find the link for Baileys win on Chester House in the 2000 Arlington million as a rebuttal. Brilliant ride!

excellent ride by the jock, i thought he did lose some lengths when the 5 started backing up, almost thought the five was gonna take him out of the whole race. I literally told myself (no lie) watching the replay if the 2 gets a hole he looks the best, never thought he had the turn of foot to gun down gio ponti though, that horse came flying. one of the most patient rides i've seen in years, much the best today.

Pretty patient ride from that kid. Nice turn of foot by the winner too.

I'm not certain it was patient by design! He pretty much had to sit and suffer, but once he got out the acceleration was brilliant! It was an excellent weekend for Buick as he went to France today and won a G1 on a ridiculous outsider!!

He also could have panicked and tried to force something that wasn't there.
