I'm still vomiting over that. I noted that in an earlier post. The ********* ******** ******* ****** bejarano has to give the worst ride all year he will give to a 13-1 shot that i bet. Do I think he would have won, definitely. I'm still sick over it. I had a tri he on top of Drift and all. And he on top of all and drift. The fact that he still ran at the wire is a miracle. Bej got caught in a jam on the turn, had to wait for room, and still would have won had he not been kncoked around like a pinball. I guess someone else here watches races, very enlightening to know that.

If he is such a mediocre horse, I'm sorry he wouldn't have gotten up for 3rd in last years Classic at 6. I'm sick of hearing words like "cheater" and "hanger" when that is not the case, but just as we won't back down that he is a nice horse and deserves what he earns, they will never admit the same. All they want is a Ghostzapper who runs 6 times in his life to cheer over for some odd reason. You and I, we like the campaigner who *always shows up*. If he doesn't win, so be it, but I see folks leaving him out of their tri's all the time, and if that isn't the *dumbest* handicapping move you can make, I don't know what is. It is awful fun, I guess, to come beat the crap out of him on boards. I wouldn't know. I love this horse, and always will.
my coming here and saying he hung in the race doesn't mean i don't like the horse. i don't recall anyone on here saying he was unliked. after all, who can hate a horse?? and don't make this a for or against, us vs them type thing. that's ridiculous. and as for GZ, hell no i wouldn't want to see more like him. i was always one of his greatest critics for the simple reason he didn't run more than a couple times a year.
i like pd, i hope he does well every time he runs. he always seems to be a hard trying horse. but i'm not going to say what i feel is true either, he did quit before the line. and it cost him the win on saturday.
hopefully next time he runs just a little longer. here's hoping he makes it to the classic again, and finishes well again. i'd like to see more of him, and others like him. simple fact is they don't geld nearly as many horses as they should, and we get robbed from seeing a lot of the best run well for many years.

Well, just go back through various internet boards and look at the picks for the Foster and see just how many imbeciles are out there. They don't even pick him for there superfectas. IMO, it's because they believe the trash talk about PD and how every race is worse than the last.

GD it! I was licking my chops at that race, he was the sleeper of all sleepers, got the pace senerio he wanted, and well, I guess that's the breaks. He did try and work his way around and was still tryin'.

i think a lot of people are put off by his form on turf--they evidently haven't paid much attention to him career wise. they always run him a couple times on turf, and he usually runs well on his first race on dirt after. murray always hoped this guy would do well on turf, as he feels (no doubt correctly) that a horse can have a longer career running on the grass. shame PD is one of the dynaformers who doesn't like turf.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid peopel are. If a big favorite has a trip like that people fall all over themselves to say that the horse would have won. If a 13-1 gets that trip and you point it out to someone they say "he wasnt gonna win anyway". Its truly amazing. As if the odds the horse went off at means anything whatsoveer when the evidence is in front of your eyes. Don't even bother trying to convince anyone he was gonna win, despite the nightnmare journey and the fact that he had run at the end, they will just tell you he wasn't gonna win anyway.

You guys are both right, he could have won. I just looked at the replay. Previously I hadn't noticed his trip. Like always Bejarano had a lot saved for the stretch but had the walls close in on him.
Did anyone actually say he wouldn't have won? It looks like everyone is focused on PD or Seek Gold.

ArlJim do you see what I mean now? I have been furious and stewing all weekend long over that horrific beat and didn't bother to mention it here because I knew noone would care.
He would have won, I very much believe that. But you see? If he had been a horse who took money then people would have noticed. Instead onlt people who wagered on him and were actually paying attention noticed. yeah, an idiot friend of mine said he wouldnt have won, when I asked why, his answer was that he wasnt good enough to beat those. So I replied that Seek Gold was? Most people just do no not watch races. I mean even on this thread people have claimed that the jock eased up on Drift. Right, sure, he hit him 20 times with the stick and rode like a tasmanian devil all teh way to the wire, yeah, he eased up, ok sure.

A hanger is it? What a neat package to sum the Drift up in. I'm just glad he slowed down, for whatever reason, so those "dogs" like Ghostzapper, Roses in May, Rockhardten and War Emblem could win!!! Too bad he didn't show the same respect to Mineshaft.

Thanks for making me laugh, Mike... sometimes, you are so dramatic about things, it's like a breath of fresh air. LOL

He can definitely handle stakes quality at CD; he just can't at the Grade 1 level.

Mike, I thought I read in another post where you liked Buzzards Bay to win this. You wrote something to the effect of "Buzzards Bay draws clear by 5".
And you keyed Wiggins? Did you change your mind?

Yeah Tim I did, for the same reason I ended up keying Nothing But Fun rather than play Spun Sugar. On TG once I saw them, Buzzard had run a HUGE top at Oak, much bigger then expected. He ran a -4 and had never run anything near that before, he was a textbook bounce. WIth Spun, she had run a -1 1/4 which has 41/2 points better than anything she had previously run. Which also made her a bounce. Like I said, all weekend long I keyed against heavy favorites who lost, but was not able to nail the winner. Its very frustrating when that happens, to be in the right Church but the wrong pew. I never make final decisions until I see the numbers, late scratches, and track bias or lack of one. In Buzzards case the minute I saw the numbers I went WHOA!! and tossed him. Lot of good it did me.

Oracle, How long between races do you think a horse needs before you throw out the bounce effect and is Buzzards Bay a Front runner type horse?
