my only question at this point is how do we get term limits for our congresspeople??? president has limits, many states as well on their state reps, govs, etc. so, how to cut the govt off their own teat? speaking of teat, pelosi wants another economic stimulus package, complete with another tax rebate. we better start working on population growth, so we have enough kids/grandkids to pay for all our bills...

i think too many are worried about mccains age, and his choice of vp has put off the very moderates he needed. there was a very brief discussion about appealing to the base, and getting the far righters to vote for JM. but, i remember back when JM was attempting to get the nomination, and rush limbaugh and others were howling in protest, i think rush at one point even said he wanted folks to vote for hillary, as he didn't want mccain. but now, they want him bad--as they would rather him than a dem, just like i said. mccain should have chosen someone more in line with his moderate views. the righters would vote for him anyway, but he'd have gotten the indys he needed. too late now tho.

I think it is deeper than that.... He has personal ethics that are lacking in many or most of the present day politicians. As far as Obama - I would say the jury is still out. His words are inspiring - but it will be his actions that will make or break him. Up to now we have very little evidence of his actions. I am willing to give him a chance - but I must say I have reservations.

i think we agree on mccain's ethics and the lack of same in many. that's what i think will make the last weeks of the campaign so painful for him. i don't think he's running for himself anymore. i think he's running for something bigger than himself (a party he still believes is best for his country). and to benefit that party he has to run a campaign that denigrates an opponent in ways he knows are false. he has to sacrifice his personal ethics for what he views as the greater good. okay. that's it for me. screw this overly serious crap. i'm going back to the easy punchline. where's tim? |
