Default Sanjaya makes it again...???

Unbelievable, they voted him through again...at least he was in the bottom three...I actually thought the bottom three were correct but how does this kid survive...at least Haley got some love. As a footnote, I thought Jordin looked great tonight!

Well, as folks who know me realize, I'm not a big fan of Stern...I use to watch him, until the night he went through the ashes of that girl and make fun of her...I could just imagine the pain that heartless SOB must have caused by that act. To me...he's symbolic of what is wrong with this country and the world in general!

Having subjected everyone to my rant, I must say it is amusing that folks are deliberately voting for Sanjaya for the reasons quoted...yet I wonder how he feels about that? And then, Idol is a doorway to stardom...the kids on the show work damn hard and they seem like a nice bunch, certainly it's hard to dislike Melinda, LaKisha, Jordin, Gina, Haley, Chris S, and others. It would be a shame to see someone with real talent be screwed by this...certainly there are at least 4 folks who have a big chance here...if one of those lose out to the Sanjaya farce...

What do you think happened with Ruben Studdard? Clay should have won that hands down and only lost because of the cheating scandal going on with Ruben... that's why I stopped watching American Idol.

Yeah, Clay has done the better of the two though...I agree that Ruben should never have won...but this poor kid Sanjaya is in a class of his own. When you get to the final two, you are talking about a huge number of votes...if Ruben got more, you have to say he had a sizeable following and it is somewhat understandable. Frankly, I thought that was Idol's weakest year...and record sales seem to bear that out.

Agree on that year being extremely weak. I was impressed with Clay's voice, though. I actually think (based upon what I've seen so far) that this year is weaker than Ruben's year. Nobody's performance thus yet has WOWED me. I'm a picky biatch though (when it comes to singing.)

We all like different things...that's why only 100,000 copies of Buffy comic moved the first 24 hours...lol! Seriously though, I think Melinda, LaKisha and Jordin compare to any year. I think a lot of folks are down on this crop cause the boys are extremely weak!

On the issue of the Vote for the Worst idea, i am sceptical that this has any tangible impact on the outcome. There were something like 39 million votes cast. Really, how many Stern listeners are actually going to get involved in that and vote for the worst. Sanjaya was in the bottom two so there could not have been that many votes for him. It would be different lets say if he wasn't even in the bottom three.

Of course I would have had it reversed sending Sanjaya home instead of Brandon but each season has its little voting irregularities that leave people scratching their heads. My theory is that one of the things that may have hurt Brandon was that the Black vote is split up between so many people, in addition to him being not one of the better singers.

There will be more surprises in store for sure.

Why because he makes some fart jokes and tries to find humor in things. It's his job. I don't recall what you are talking about in regards to going through someone's ashes and causing so much pain but I think you have him dead wrong and your comments remind me of the comment I hear for people that just don't get it.
Making fun of someones misfortune is not my cup of tea...I don't call that entertainment, I call it perverted, sad and malicious. You are right about one thing...I don't get it...I don't want to! Fart jokes don't bother me...making fun of people does. Why is it that after every tragic event (school shootings, 9-11, explosions etc) knuckleheads call into TV and radio stations with made-up stories (sometimes getting past screening and on the air) which end with the punchline of "Howard Stern did it" or something like that...always mentioning him! Stern makes money off the misery of others...to me he's the lowest form of human life. If you "get" him...well, that's your right just as it's my right to say what I do!!!

Jim,
I agree with that...if he hadn't been in the bottom three I would really be worried. Your point about the black contestants is probably accurate, for that reason, I think Stephanie may be in danger!

I personally find what they do pretty funny because I can laugh at myself as well. It's all in good humor. Why does everything have to be so serious?
And what about Simon Cowell. He certainly seems to make his living from making fun of people. Doesn't seem to stop you from watching. Is he what is wrong with the world. I think a problem with the world is people don't laugh anymore. Everything is so PC and people walk around with a stick up their a$$es. Loosen up man.

You are doing exactly what I'm doing except you choose to focus on me rather than the issue. Simon is critical and can be rough on folks but he's honest. Are you seriously comparing someone giving someone's performance a bad review with the trash Stern does? I agree that people should laugh more and laughing at yourself is often good therapy...but that's not the same as making fun of other's misery! I see nothing amusing in the ashes of a suicide victim, the dead bodies of school kids or the horrors of 9-11...if that's what you call political correctness and a lack of sense of humor then so be it!
