place pick all?

I was looking at the charts for santa anita today and for the last race it said

"$1 Place Pick all 8 of 8 correct paid $257.50"

What does that mean?

"To win the Place Pick All, you must select the most 1st- or 2nd-place finishers in all live races of the day. Wagers must be placed before the running of the 1st race. The entire net pool will be paid to those selecting the most 1st- or 2nd-place winners."

thanks, that is what i figured from the title.

Has it been around for long? I have never heard of it. Is it popular? Anyone on the board ever give it a shot?

been around for atleast5+ years at various tracks although some have done away with the wager

Pedigree Ann plays the SA Place Pick all. She had 6 out of 8 yesterday.

Relatively cheap bet.....on days with 10 races...many times 9 wins and I've seen the win pay in excess of 10Gs....routinely over 1000 bucks!

I played it one day and had 6 out of 8 and if you had 7 you won something like $350....I took a shot in one race and it didn't work out...I play Mondesto Lineaus or what ever his name and he took the horse out to something like 20 and 2 for a 7 furlong....the horse never had a chance at that pace.
