A Unique look into the Kimmel barn
Mornin' Trailers,
A few months back my buddy Mitch Greenwald (freelance photographer) visited me at Payson Park from Saratoga NY. He took tons of nice photos of the people and horses at our barn and set them all into a nice slide show on a very nice photo-share website. If you've got a few minutes, it's worth a look. here is the link: http://mitch.smugmug.com/gallery/2459449 click the "Slideshow" button (top right) sit back and relax...

Question, I've noticed many of his horses with a circular piece on their mouth bits (pix 6-9) what are they and why do some have them and some don't.
At Belmont last week I saw a horse in the paddock who I liked prerace, but in the paddock this horse had on 3 different appliances around his mouth and head and I threw him out. One of them was the circular patch. I've never had them on any horses I've owned in training or racing? PS the horse ran like crap

I see Kimmel uses wood shavings, I like those alot more than hay. I know Baffert used to use them, must be from his old QH days. The TB barns are too good for shavings they gotta use hay.lol They cant used the same thing as us lower class QH's.

Yeah, I think shavings is easier all the way around but I also think they are more expensive. In any case, if you stable at Payson Park in the winter, you are compelled to BUY and USE shavings from "Mrs. Payson's Hay and Feed Company". If you don't like it... hit the road Jack. The stall rent is $2,800 for the meet. Multiply that by 30 stalls to a barn, and you got a hefty chunk of change. Getting back to the subject of "bedding", thank GOD we don't have to use that Strew-Flex garbage. MAHHHN is that ever a poor excuse for bedding. It appears to come WITH the horse **** ALREADY MIXED IN IT when you open a new bag. I wouldn't bed my donkey in it. The poor people at Gulfstream Park have to deal with it since they are compelled to use that.

Not sure which is photo 71. The pics have 4 digits and prefixed with CRW,, like: CRW_6781 If you're refering to CRW_6757, That's me with "Now More Than Ever". If not, then send me the number and I'll try and ID it for you. Have a great day Miss Storm Cat.

6781 is a sweetheart of a filly named "With Affirmation" She is also in my Avitar. I love her! She is very photogenic because she's almost prue WHITE. Below is a shot taken upon arrivial at Payson Park. She seems to remember me from year to year. I guess that's because I put a super massage on her everyday... hahaha. If you're refering to the person in 6781... That's some homeless guy (notice the backpack) that just happened to stumble into the barn that morning. I think he had been living in the woods behind the training center for quite some time (notice the long beard). I gave him a cup of coffee and a doughnut (notice the coffee stain on his shirt) and sent him on his way. He's not been back since. "With Affirmation" (I am NOT bald... what you see is only your immagination)
