I thought the same thing Samarta. Liddell looked fat and lazy like a beer drinking hillbilly, and proceeded to get his ass busted. I dont think that lazy hook would have knocked most guys down, especially cage fighters. Ridiculous

The second fight of the night with that Houston guy was unreal. That guy has fast hands, he reminded me of the Bernard Hopkins when he was young. Vicious combo of punches

These guys dont wear gloves, they are really fist protectors. So what appears to be a nothing punch hurts a great deal. If you put those same types of protectors on heavyweight boxers instead of gloves, they would kill each other.

This sport is absolutely brutal. Yet it is interesting as styles of fighting clash and one is never really sure what will happen. That Rulon?Gardner kid who won the gold in Greco-Roman wrestling has gotten into this. He looks fat but he is so strong. And he has actually learned how to punch. It should be interesting to see how he progresses.

I don't disagree at all....this sport can be brutal....but Liddell is supposed to be the toughest sob the sport has to offer and he goes down with what looks like a glancing blow. Then when he goes down it looks like he goes to get right up and then all of a sudden he's helpless....then it gets stopped and he's all p'd off....the whole things smells a little bad to me....

I did not see the fight so I will go with your assessment. And this sport will be in trouble if they put up a big PPV fight and people think it is set up. I have only watched replays and so I get the cherry picked fights. What I have seen is brutal. Especially the fights from Japan. Guys just put to sleep or bleeding all over the mat. Submission holds that would crack me in half.

Oh yes. I saw Butterbean fight this guy about half his size who climbed up on him like a spider and grabbed his arm.. immediate submission after he secured the fat arm properly.

Guys, are you sure we were watching the same thing?

That was no glacing blow. He got ****in tagged. You did see the slo-mo replay when his head snapped to the right after taking that punch right?

And as for Liddell being out of shape, you guys obviously haven't seen him fight before last night. THE GUY ALWAYS HAS A BEER GUT WHEN HE FIGHTS.

That Houston guy in the 2nd fight was impressive though. I've watched the guy he fought before, "The Dean of Mean" Jardin tear up dudes. Jardin hit Houston with 2 nice strikes to open that fight, and then it's like that turned on a light switch in Houston's head to open up a ca of whoop-ass after. Very impressive performance.

Karo Parisian also looked very good last night. Those Judo throws are fun to watch.

I saw the replay.

He connected and snapped his head. Anytime your head gets accelerated that rapidly, even if the punch is glancing, its down time. The blood just stays put while your head leaves it behind (inertia) and you go down. Your brain temporarily is depleted of oxygen in some important regions. Even if it is just a short time. Then Jackson was on top of him pounding him. They dont want these guys to get hurt too bad. They need them to fight again so the refs jump in rapidly.

He torqued the crud out of his cranium. It happens in this sport. This is not boxing with padded gloves.

Ive watched that Liddell a lot, he looked weaker to me last night. He had zero muscle tone, and his belly was a litter fatter than usual. He looked, slow, old, and scared. Took him 2 minutes to engage the other guy and when he did he got slapped down.

Karo I dont care for. Hes not strong, but hes smart and technical. That guy he fought was dead exhausted after the first round

Houston is a slugger. He got caught once and it pissed him off and he buried Jardine. That Jardine probably doesnt know his name this morning.

As a total package I was a little disappointed what I got for my 50 bucks. I would have been better off taking the 50 bucks to some local hillbilly bar and getting two rednecks to hit each other with pool cues and barstools.
