Default Cannon Shell-Keyed Entry performance

As a trainer...what the heck was up with Keyed Entry today? From a trainers perspective, what was KE trying to do. Why would a horse act that way. On the camera angle they showed, I've never seen a jock pull on that left rein so hard for KE to stay along the rail.

And then he goes out like 12 wide? Change of blinks? Equipment?

Does that indicate on injury? What would you do now if KE was yours?

Thanks in advance!

They never did say anything about it....he didn't cross the finish line, or at least I didn't see him...Johnny V had both hands on the left side trying to get him to come in and still couldn't get it done....it was bizarre.....it's not like he's an inexperienced horse....

Forest Danger. He freaked out when he saw Ghostzapper throw a fit outside of the gate, then didn't want to get anywhere near GZ during the race. Was never the same after that day.

As for Keyed Entry, I can't remember a more mind-boggling horse in my lifetime. Every single time he runs, he could do anything from winning by a furlong to hopping the rail and launching an anti-war protest on the turf course, and I wouldn't be surprised.

When a horse gets out as bad as he did it is almost certain that there is a physical issue of some sort. Especially a horse as lightly raced as this one.

I would start looking for stallion deals if I owned him. I'm guessing Florida.

Still think they ruined this one by running him in the Kentucky Derby. Horse should never have been running over a mile. Sure he had that nice win in his first back, but since he's met Grade I horses again he seems to fold like a tent. One of the few things I was actually right about today was tossing him.

did anyone else notice that besides keyed entry, many of pletchers runners today ran very erraticaly and looked like they were uncomfortable.

this included english channel to a degree, wait a while, keyed entry, deadly dealer never looked like he was moving well, and i was told cotton blossom ran a bit weird too.

the weirdest to me, other than keyed entry, was wait a while. she bobbled several times for no apparent reason and just never looked good.

A.P. Arrow looked pretty bad. . . Cotton Blossom couldn't have run too poorly if she won that race. . . EC looked great before the race and still did ok to finish second. . . Can't remember how the others looked. . .

I agree about AP Arrow..I was watching him closely as his outrider kept yanking on the bridle chain downward every 3-4 seconds REALLY HARD in the post parade. It went on for about 2-3 minutes. And JV didnt look too happy or confident watching that scenario.

I thought the horse bled by the way he acted in the race. Today, I was told the horse is very sore. He needs rest.

Keyed Entry was definitely pulled up, right? I mean, I never saw him come anywhere near the finish line.

He finished, but he was hugging the grandstand rail.

From DRF:
Regarding Keyed Entry, who bolted while finishing last in the True North, Pletcher said the horse was headed to a farm in Ocala to get a mental freshening.

And we all know what happened to Jack Nicholson when he went for a "mental Freshening" right?

And I thought that maybe Frankie Dettori was riding him.
