Default Sumwon TG 9 at AP

Sumwon nicely paired her last TG figure at AP - very good, considering moving to artificial surface, being off a small layoff. Did anyone yet post her Beyer?

This is a very good number, she hasn't regressed yet and keeps on moving forward. There has been a pattern of horses pair/pair/top and that is looking like it is possible next out.....

I think she wins by 5 lengths pulling away in the stretch @ the Spa.

I will be there to root her on whatever day it may be.

What kind of top are we talking about? What kind of numbers do stake horses run?

I just hope she stays well and runs well.

my rough guess is mid seven, or even a 7.

Stakes horses can run thing, but that 7 range means you are competitive....

Well with a thorograph you can get a rail skimming trip and win a stakes race with a 9 or get a terribly wide trip and lose running a 5. The nice thing is Sumwon should usually not lose too much ground so is more likely to win with a 7 than a horse that goes wide would. A 9 on Thorograph coverts to about a 77 Beyer on average. It isn't suprising that it is lower than the actual Beyer of 81 since she didn't lose much ground which is factored into the Thorograph figure.

I agree. I should have been more descriptive regarding some other stuff. Fact is that for the progression to continue, Chuck just needs to continue what he is doing, and that is keeping her happy and letting her come into her own.

Anyone have the Thorographs for Rags to Riches? I'm curious how her Las Virgenes where she was wicked wide compares to her Oaks and Belmont figures.

Rags got a 1 1/2 for her Las Virgenes, a 1 for the Oaks and a -1 1/2 for the Belmont.

Ok, just wondering how much improvement there is to be had. She has moved up so much as it is. Guess we'll find out next month.

So far there have been horses that move up to listed stake races beating her. Rebecca Maker should take Green Door to a listed stake race next start just from Sumwon's PP alone

She really hasn't moved up at all. She is finally in capable hands and that is why she is starting to show talent. She recieved a fresh start and quite honestly, I consider her 10 to be where she was actually a racehorse. Fact is that she has some speed, any horse that can do 136.2 maybe her raw time was 136.3, she is going to win some races.

I will tell you this. If Chuck has this horse as a two year old, she would have ran that 10 out of the box.

What I would like to know is how she even got into Pinzon's hands? Anyone know how many sales she went through?

Totally agree and oddly enough am interested in her prior background also - had asked a couple weeks ago and was confirmed in another thread that she probably was not even in a barn this time last year - but when and where did she start training, was at it at TTC or elsewhere??? Guess if Sumwon were Mr. Ed she could tell us personally lol, but in any event a good summer mystery to keep us entertained until she hits New York!

I'll know when she is entered at Toga, I can get a lifetime activity log from Youbet (TurfDay). It will have every time she had a clocked work on it

Every new picture see of her shows how she's maturing physically and mentally from last winter - many thanks to Chuck and his crew, we're incredibly lucky..

I imagine she was first sold as a yearling. Could go through sale results from her yearling year to look for her, I suppose.
