Default Trevor Denman - 61-180 Days (9 .33)

Trevor seemed unusually out of form at Opening Day today, stumbling badly in 6 out of the 9 races.

I almost fell off my chair when he called Matty G Whiz "Matty Wee Jizz" in the 6th. Others whose names changed mid-race were Tycoon Doby and the 4th and Yario in the 7th, who turned into Vario down the stretch (5 times!) .

I'm a big fan of Vic Stauffer but I like Trevor, too. I hope he returns to form quickly.

How about how Teeman only caught Trevor's attention when he had been in front for a sixteenth of a mile in the 7th?

I'm not an announcer basher, I really understand how tough their job is, but with the way some people speak highly of Trevor I don't have a problem saying I am not a fan.

It is always tough coming back off a layoff, just for the simple fact of getting your rhythm back and getting your brain into memorization mode.

I think Trevor has "lost a step", but he's still very good. He definitely had a tough day. It reminded me of last year's Breeders' Cup, when he was very much off his game, missing Street Sense's move and not seeing him until he was 6 in front.

so are you saying we should expect a better performance second time off the layoff?

back in the 80s, my friends and i would sometimes have some beers with TD at fairplex, after the races were done.

he was a pretty big drinker back then, but i have no idea about nowadays.

He used to know who was done and who was moving, who was getting the best trip while never missing a beat, now he cant even keep the horses straight. Seriously, pull up some of the stake races from around 90 and his calls were unreal.

This is about the time I started getting into the races and hearing Trevor Denman's calls certainly added to the experience. I would have loved to have heard him calling the Breeders' Cup during that time (especially the ones in Southern California).

I was afraid that might have been the problem. Not that I ever heard anything to that effect previously, but I had my suspicions.
