![]() With the incredible effort from the one n' only Greater Good yesterday,I have to again say that for p4 betting, the best strategy may be to:
Cap 3 n' Meshugeneh Which means to handicap 3 races, and expect an uncappable nut to come in for the 4th leg.Don't try to figure it.Can't be figured out. It's a Meshugeneh. |

I would have to take all,or all minus the favorite ,to get Greater Good.I remember looking at him in his last race, and saying that he just really has become a turd. Then yesterday's performance.Either he is Meshugeneh,or they finally pulled the string when everybody's head is turned. It is remarkable how they bring in horses when they are off people's radars. ![]() S.U.,
Encourage and love the use of Yiddish on the Trail, so here's a syntax tip.. SomeTHING 'crazy', like the race in question, is "Meshugah" (adj).. (as in 'inscrutable').. "Vay is mer.. a more meshugah group of horses I've never seen" SomeONE crazy, like Orca, is a "Meshuganah" (n).. An individual can also be 'described' as "Meshugah" (adj) in the third person.. "Oy.. that Mike.. meshugah like you've never seen".. versus "Saul.. I'm telling you right now, never in your life have you seen such a meshuganah" For emphasis, it always fun to hybrid Yiddish-English as in terming a situation "Meshugah-Nuts"

I grew up in a similar place as Mike. Teaneck, NJ. Lot's of Jewish kids as friends. Now, a little story... I was getting married to my first wife, needed a diamond for her engagement ring. So I called up one of my high school friends, who's dad worked in the diamond center. Hey, can you get me a nice diamond? He said, come on over. I'm there in minutes. Now, he's twenty-two years old, wearing jeans, just like me. So I say, "Do you have a diamond for me?" He reaches into his pocket and takes out a little packet...spills them on the table and says, "Pick one out." It looked like a huge pile of rock candy. So, we start sorting. I say, "How much are these worth?" He says, " One and a half million, or so." I say, "How come you carry these around? Are you at all scared?" He says, " My family never knew when there would be a knock on the door in the night. We had to be ready to take everything we had in a moment." End of story, he gave me a great deal on a perfect stone...and a huge amount of respect for what his people have been through. btw...that sense of humor has kept their sanity through the difficult times, and in the "good times"...no better people to be around...even for this goiam. ![]() I am Jewish living in the SF Bay Area and feel very much alone out here.
Like i say, you can be Catholic or Protestant and live in NY City and be more Jewish than i am living out here in Northern California. Just bought my wife a diamond in the NY City Diamond district myself from a good Jewish family store.... PSH |

All I was trying to say is that I've always felt welcomed into the homes of my Jewish friends, as you also will be if you ever come East. The food, discussion, and "love of life" is so endearing. Saratoga is coming up. You have friends, so don't feel alone. From one of the goys... DTS |

![]() Thanks DTS.
I was half joking. With a lovely wife and two great small kids i am never alone. Will be up in Saratoga on Thursday July 3 - Saturday July 5 for 3 great days of racing. Stopping by at the Finger Lakes thursday morning to see my 2YO filly Taconic Zip by City Zip who is close to her first timed workout and is on schedule for her first start in August. Quite exciting. I will be in Saratoga to look for a trainer to take over for my horses if they can graduate to the Big Leagues (Saratoga-Belmont-Aqueduct) from The Finger Lakes. Hope to meet other Derby Trailers when in Saratoga with all mornings at the Oklahoma Track. Paul |

![]() Paul,
I'll keep my eyes out for Teconic Zip. I also have one at Finger Lakes, Big Daddy Ray. He ran "sick" last Friday. Once he gets back on his feed and has some works, he'll be back in. Stop by Jared S's barn and have a look at him if you're there. See you at Toga between Aug 3-5. Meet up with you at Steves Carolina BBQ. It's on the left side of the grand stand entrance, not far from the carosel. DTS |

![]() Thanks again DTS.
Know exactly where it is. Last year i made it to Saratoga for the first time in over 20 years and saw where Carolina is. Not too far from my friend Michael Geharty the artist who has a booth there.... Look forward to it and i will see if i have the time to check on Big Daddy on the morning of Thursday August 3rd when at Finger Lakes with my horse Taconic Zip at John Buckley's barn. Can't wait, I am getting very excited about Saratoga and hopefully Taconic Zip getting to the races for my first start ever as a owner. Paul |
