Juddmonte International
August 21st - could be a smasher!! from the racingpost ..\\
Our boy at 8-1!! AUTHORIZED was installed a 7-4 favourite for the Juddmonte International Stakes at York on August 21 as Frankie Dettori looked ahead to the ride on the runaway Derby winner. The race brings together the 1-2-3 from the memorable Coral-Eclipse Stakes last month, but Coral's opening show placed Authorized as clear favourite ahead of his Eclipse conqueror Notnowcato at 5-2 and George Washington, a close third at Sandown, next best at 3-1. “I'm really looking forward to getting on him again,” said Dettori of Authorized, who gave him his much desired first Derby success when scooting home by five lengths from Eagle Mountain. He added: “Authorized was my first Derby winner and I'll never forget that moment.” Authorized looked in great shape in a recent spin on the Limekilns in Newmarket under Noel O'Connor shortly after the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot which he bypassed for another possible clash with Notnowcato, who won the York feature12 months ago. Authorized is part of the Maktoum family team following his purchase by Sheikh Mohammed after his Derby win, so Dettori would have been expected to ride even before news that none of Godolphin's five International entries - headed by Ramonti - are likely to run. Blue Ksar is a possible for Saturday's Rose of Lancaster Stakes and the Godolphin team have other plans in mind for the other four. Simon Crisford, racing manager to Godolphin, said: “It is unlikely that we will have runners as things stand at the moment.” “Ramonti might possibly go for the Prix du Moulin and has come out of his race in the Sussex Stakes very well. We are are happy to head to France.” “Olympian Odyssey might go for a Group 3 at Salisbury and Echo Of Light is in the Prix Jacques Le Marios and could go there of for a Group 3 in France the following weekend.” "Stage Gift - we have no firms for at the moment and we are going to make a plan soon but it wouldn't be the Juddmonte International and he is entered up in plenty of races overseas.” Notnowcato is understood to have had a troublesome corn removed, but is said to be back swimming and expected to take his place, subject to no hiccups along the way. A day later, Dalvina is likely to take her chance in the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York after connections decided to sidestep an engagement at Arlington Park this weekend. The daughter of Grand Lodge was an impressive winner of the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket in May on her reappearance and bounced back from a disappointing effort in the Oaks when finishing third to Silkwood in the Ribblesdale Stakes. Trainer Ed Dunlop said: “With the quality of the American fillies and Irridescence in the line up we decided not to take a three-year-old out there for the Beverly D and will revert to the Yorkshire Oaks.” “We have given her a nice break and brought her back. She is not the most robust of fillies but she looks to be maturing.” Juddmonte International Stakes Coral: 7-4 Authorized, 5-2 Notnowcato, 3 George Washington, 8 Asiatic Boy, 10 Stage Gift, 14 Distant Way, 20 Passage Of Time, 40 Pressing, Salford Mill, 66 Hattan, Kandidate

I really fancy Asiatic Boy for this. The Sussex should have put him spot on for this, and York is a nice left handed flat track, which should suit him.

He will surely start shorter than 8/1 if he turns up, Brockguy. Don't you think??

If the top 3 show up, he might start at higher. Authorized will get a lot of cash again and depending on ground, George or Notnow will so as well. He could be the forgotten horse in the race..

Authorized jumping out of skin according to trainer.. Id love to see how he gets on if it is truly fast ground.. from the racingpost...
DERBY winner Authorized continued his preparation for next week's Juddmonte International at York with a workout on Newmarket's Al Bahathri gallops. Peter Chapple-Hyam's charge, who was turned over by Notnowcato in the Coral-Eclipse on his latest start, covered 7½f with his regular work companion Striving Storm. The Montjeu colt was partnered by Adrian McCarthy but Chapple-Hyam has revealed big-race pilot Frankie Dettori will be down to ride Authorized in his final gallop before York at the end of the week. "That was a real good blow-out and he will be ready by next Tuesday," said the St Gatien handler. "I will work him once more - towards the end of the week - before the race at York. Frankie Dettori will come in and give him a pipe-opener. "I'm happy with the horse - he is just about where I want him to be," he told www.peterchapplehyam.co.uk. Authorized is currently 7-4 favourite with Coral for the Juddmonte International next Tuesday.

If the ground is fast, i seriously believe Asiatic Boy will win (even with Spencer). The track should suit him, his run in the Sussex was pretty good considering he just didn't look fit enough, I'd say 10 furlongs would probably be a better trip for him (as long as he settles early).
As long as Spencer can get him switched off early on, i think there is every chance we could see a breath taking display from him.

Jeez....... how good is this race going to be!!!!!!!!!!!!
From Racing Post........ by Tony O'Hehir and Bruce Jackson DYLAN THOMAS was on Wednesday made the newfavourite for the Juddmonte International ahead of Derby winner Authorized by William Hill after Aidan O'Brien revealed that the King George winner, rather than George Washington, was set to be Ballydoyle's main hope at York next Tuesday. Most bookmakers were caught on the hop by O'Brien nominating Dylan Thomas and Duke Of Marmalade as the likeliest runners from the seven he left in the 1m2f Group 1 at Wednesday's six-day stage. Bookmakers had confidently expected the International to feature an Eclipse rematch between Notnowcato, Authorized and George Washington, but Hills quickly revised their betting to make Dylan Thomas 2-1 favourite at the expense of Authorized, who was eased to 9-4. Notnowcato is a 3-1 chance with the firm. The Juddmonte was yesterday shaping up into one of the races of the season, setting up a belated meeting between Dylan Thomas and Authorized, which was denied when the three-year-old bypassed Ascot, and Notnowcato. O'Brien said on Wednesday: “We haven't finalised plans just yet. The horses still have bits of work to do and we'll be keeping an eye on the ground situation, but it's looking as if Dylan Thomas and Duke Of Marmalade will be going for the International. “We might also run something else in the race, but we're thinking of waiting with George Washington and aiming him at the Irish Champion Stakes instead on September 8.” Dylan Thomas, beaten favourite when fourth behind Notnowcato in the International a year ago, achieved one of his four Group 1 successes over the 1m2f trip when landing the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown last September. Duke Of Marmalade, runner-up to stablemate Excellent Art in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on his most recent start, will be tackling the trip for the first time, having finished fourth in the 2,000 Guineas and the Irish 2,000 Guineas. O'Brien's decision took the bookmakers by surprise as the King George winner had not featured in their prices, with Eclipse third George Washington expected to lead his team, being rated third favourite behind his Eclipse conquerors. Coral had priced up the York feature last month, believing it would be a rerun of their sponsored Eclipse. Dylan Thomas will lead to a radical market rethink today. O'Brien's other nominated runner Duke Of Marmalade was fifth favourite at around the 14-1 mark. Dylan Thomas is being given the chance to put the record straight after being beaten favourite last year behind Notnowcato, who impressed on Wednesday in a final serious workout on the Newmarket gallops. Sir Michael Stoute paired the Eclipse winner with his other International acceptor, the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Mountain High, on the Limekilns round gallop. Notnowcato, partnered by his regular work-rider Gary Forster, pulled clear of Mountain High, while another International contender, Asiatic Boy, fourth in the Sussex Stakes on his British debut, also pleased connections in his work at Newmarket on Wednesday. His new big-race jockey Jamie Spencer took the reins for the first time and trainer Mike de Kock was happy with the outcome. Asiatic Boy, who ran a fine race to finish fourth on his first start for five months in the Sussex Stakes, will be having his first start over 1m2f. “I was pretty happy with it,” De Kock said. “I was happy with the way he's come out of it and he worked well. Jamie seemed pretty pleased.” David Elsworth's Salford Mill, Mark Johnston's Boscobel and Clive Brittain's Hattan were also among the 14 confirmations ***************** Having said that, Dylan didn't seem happy in this race last year and i'm convinced he needs 12 furlongs. It's still all about Asiatic Boy for me, though.

It looks all set. Notnow (and hopefully Asiatic) will get completely ignored in the betting as Authorized and Dylan get all the cash and neither will win..
