![]() "The proposed Sirius-XM merger would eliminate the potential of any meaningful competition in the satellite radio market, which would, in turn, permanently block the potential for diversity of ownership and control by minorities in the only medium capable of nationwide broadcasting," said Jackson.

![]() I wonder what Jesse's side kick (moron) Sharpton would have to say about this possible merger. Maybe Farrakan or Tawana Brawley or even the lady from the Duke case could give an opinion. Maybe the Duke lady will even be sober.

I guess it must be time for me to give "Pants" and some other folks the opportunity to bash me again...here's the thing, the above post is racist, pure and simple. I don't know Nascar and frankly I have no desire to but that is a racist post! Jesse Jackson bashing is a forum activity, and as a public figure, he's fair game as is Al Sharpton and even "Calipso Lewie"...the fact that I respect all three is one man's opinion, equally valid but no more so than the opinion of those who feel differently...just because someone feels compelled to "call out" all three doesn't make their remarks racist, but what exactly, aside from being black, do the two women mentioned have to do with the subject? The woman from NC did something that harms victims of male sexual aggression everywhere...she apparently made up the entire story, possibly (I don't know) in an attempt to eventually sue a "bunch of rich folks". She was dead wrong and her lies harmed a lot of people...BUT, why mention her instead of the scumbag DA who attempted to win an election and make a name for himself by pandering to racial distrust and sensationalism? Wasn't he disbarred and last I heard possibly facing criminal prosecution?? Seems to me he would be a more fitting example of what folks here seem to think is "political whoring"...but oh yeah, he's WHITE! And the woman who accused Kobe Bryant of rape...apparently her story didn't add up but instead we hear about Tawana. Of course, that woman was WHITE! Tawana was a kid who, to escape being punished for her behavior, made up a wild story about unidentified cops...was it wrong? Of course...but how many million kids OF ALL RACES do the same thing? The difference there was that it snowballed and innocent folks once again were effected. Blame Al for responding before the facts were known and I accept the point but bring up some kid who told a lie in a thread about "political whores" and I just don't see the connection...EXCEPT SHE IS BLACK! This is racism no matter what defense is offered, and no number of snide, belittling or attack-oriented posts directed forthwidth toward me will change that!

Again, I respect your different point of view regarding both these public figures...that's different from the post I responded to! If you look closely enough at any public figure, indeed at any human being, you will find your share of warts....my position doesn't constitute a "blind eye", it is simply a product of being around awhile. Whether it be George Bush, Hillary Clinton or the pope...I was listening to some Cincinnati talk radio program yesterday coming home from work, a well-known conservative talking head was taking Hillary to task for being hypocritical, a liar and stupid. George Bush's intelligence is questioned by what appears to be the entire liberal community, and the pope has stuck his holy foot in his mouth rather frequently. These partisan "views" of folks who maintain a different philosophy dot the landscape of Americana...but a 15 year old girl has nothing to do with the state of America's political environment....and the rather curious expansion of a "mock Jesse" thread to include only black so-called "examples" while excluding equally (or greater) repulsive acts by white folks speaks for itself.

![]() but the da in the duke case would have had no case had the 'victim' not made up the story. two wrongs don't make a right either.
nor do i think the above post that was called racist was inded racist. color should not mean that anyone should be more believable, nor be given more leeway, etc. punishing people who did nothing wrong will not make correct past wrongs.

But how is that germane to the thread's topic? And are you saying that the poster "just happened" to select only black examples? Stay on topic...what is the relevancy of the acts of a 15 year old girl and the NC woman to the discussion of Jackson's stance on the stated issue and the concept of "political whoring"?

![]() somer, nascar's comments certainly appear to reek, but the point of the thread is that jj takes the 'oh no, we're getting screwed again' attitude.
honestly, it is tired and does not play well anymore. if a minority group was really interested in obtaining or producing satelite radio, a nascar team, or any other thing (beside the oil bidness), don't you think it would happen? there is no lack of people or groups that like nothing more than to knock down barriers, maybe he should keep his pie hole shut and quit hindering,or burdening, people with his idiocy. |

As expected! So tell me Pants, what have you done in life to judge yourself a "success"? How many folks have you helped? What have you done to make this a better place or to ease suffering? I'd love to hear your definition of success. By the way, I'm doing fine...just got promoted...thanks for asking!

I understand your position but I disagree...what we learned in the 60's is that nothing changes until enough people bitch about it, shouldn't be that way but it is! Jesse has been a spokesman for a long time...he has supporters and he has detractors, just as his mentor, Dr King did. Has Jesse made some poor decisions? I think so. Has he shown that he's human? You bet! But after the murder of Dr King, the black community needed leaders and he stepped to the plate...so did the other two men mentioned. Just as half the country disagrees with George Bush and the other half disagree with Hillary Clinton, so it goes with Jesse and the others. I think each issue can be debated but falling back on a "knee-jerk" mindset that if Jesse opposes something, he's doing it for personal gain misses the point...easy to attack the messenger but in the end, it's the message that matters. Again, it's useless for me to defend Jesse here...folks have long sense made up their minds one way or the other but sitting back and staying quiet has never worked in any society. Keep in mind that the purpose of my original post wasn't to defend Jesse but to point out that the post I quoted was racist.

![]() This would be the same Jackson and Sharpeton that disrupted a small town when 6 black boys beat the crap out of a white boy. The main perpetrator being a black boy that has a significant history of criminal violent behavior including beating a girl. On top of it they preferred to march rather than bail the black boy out and use him as a martyr for their "cause".
If 6 white boys had beat up a black boy, one white boy having a long history of violent criminal behavior, jackson and sharpton would be screaming hate crime. They, Jackson and Sharpton, are themselves racists, they just get to hide behind their skin color. Can't scream for racial equality and then not understand it goes both ways. Truth is the truth, call me a racist if you want, but I think Fagers post was valid. Last edited by FGFan : 11-04-2007 at 05:02 PM. |

Jesse Jackson should be less about his one-note race campaigns and more about economic development which aids all socio-economic groups.
