Hilarious. Bet the 3 year olds I dismiss. Looks like Denis of Cork will be the triple crown winner.

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

I don't have TVG, so I guess I will have to wait for the press release..
What a crazy road so far this year for the roses...Be great to see a horse like this make it.

missed the race....did he win easy?
personally I hate the "feel good story horse" ....but since the owners kid is autistic, I guess I can forgive this one.

Win and story! Perhaps Vic's pre-race tv interview was magic!

According to TVG - the connections said before the race that he was only entered for the purpose of raising awareness with his name.

The result of the race might have shown synthetic track awareness - as there were some big flops in a Graded Stake run on California's only remaining natural dirt surface at a non bull-ring track.

The pace setter ran like he was preping for the A.P. Smithwick at Saratoga - he jumped shadows in multiple occasions around the first turn.

It makes you wonder what some of the also rans in California on the synthetic surfaces could do if they raced on a real racetrack.

Like the AQU inner?

Why is it that there's so much resistance to (an attempt at) FAIR racing?

Hopefully next time he runs with a Shadow Roll on. Shame, cause they only cost about $10.00 and it most likey cost the connections $90k.

(quoted from Bloodhorse article

"Runner-up Nikki’sgoldensteed, winner of the Turf Paradise Derby, showed speed from his inside post but lost the lead at the seven-eighths pole when he jumped shadows. The son of Formal Gold continued to jump shadows up the backstretch but regained the lead at the five-sixteenth mark before losing the advantage to Autism Awareness mid-stretch. He dug in to narrow the gap slightly at the end"

His trainer predicted he would do it before the race in an interview with TVG, he said something like 'he loves to jump shadows and there are a lot of them out today on this track - it could get real interesting if we have the lead with a furlong to go'

I think the point was the tracks aren't dirt. He said nothing ill of synthetic tracks. There are some dumb owners that keep running horses that don't perform on the stuff that might do much better on dirt.

I have no idea how you interpreted the post the way you did.

Except for the poor breeder. But the brood mare and progeny value just went up soo. He is by Tannersmyman o/o Lady Essex-Sharp Victor.
He did have an incredible burst of speed in the stretch.

he looked as good as some of the far more expensive and more heralded 3y/o's.

Just read this morning he was purchased in the somewhat obscure auction at the Pleasanton Fair Grounds where the California fair circuit visits a couple weeks in summer.
