Default 8/22: Saratoga (Personal Ensign)

Had yet another day where the handicapping found winners, a productive exacta and OK tri, but overall results were well south of standards. $130.00 tri in the third with Mickeless ($36.20) seemed 'short', but the Trouble Maker-Lady Carlock exacta in the listed stakes 7th ($63.50) was 'long'. With big weekend of racing upon us, looking to focus. Carryover approaches $50k Friday with the Gr. I Personal Ensign the feature to kick off the stakes-heavy festivities. Hope you did OK Thursday..

High Brass in the 1st race, Globalization of 07 would drown these however he is not the same horse he once was, he wouldn't be a surprise as the lone speed favorite but I'll take a chance High Brass is the now horse to be on.

Ramon couldn't have ruined the #2 in the first any worse if he planned it. He really has fallen off from a year ago..

He's not as good as consistent as last year, but he's still a jockey that can come up with a good result. I can't remember what the horse's name was but he got an overlooked Weaver horse to win a turf race earlier in the meet at a very nice price over a Shug horse. You always remember the one's that work out to balance out the dissapointments.

Knife and Fork in the 5th race might be dangerous for Contessa, who knows but he's 9-1. May be work a couple of dollars.

I like Lookalike in the 8th especially if she runs back to her last race at Keeneland, maybe one more bomb today.

EDIT: Carries to anyone but the 1,3,4,5,6. If freaking Ginger Punch hadn't gotten the whisker in front at the wire, we'd have a double-carry for sure.

Ginger Punch has made a fan out of me, she's all a racehorse should be. Exceptional effort, she never looked like a winner today but she got the job done again.

She's got alot of heart but I hope she keeps on winning these races because I am going to be betting against her big time if she goes to the BC cause her figs show she's really not that fast. She has certaintly taken the place of Ashado in my bet against list except she has worked herself out of some bad situations unlike Ashado who got races delivered to her on a platter.

A nose away from a $200,000+ carryover into Travers Day. I'm sure the NYRA people are thrilled.

I hear you, she's not flashy and perhaps she is not as fast as Zenyatta or Hystericalady. But from a fan's point of view I give her all the respect in the world when you at some of the close finishes she has overcome in her career. Either she is the luckiest I think 6 time grade 1 winner horseracing has ever seen or she is just plain good. I'm not debating anyone who wants to bet against her, I do understand the rationale. But her record speaks for itself. By the way if there was a race with these 3 horses, you have to wonder if she would be favored, certainly Zenyatta would take more money, she might not even be second choice. Crazy huh?

She sure looked like she wanted no part of racing this afternoon - washy, (albeit they all were a little hot) aloof in the post parade, and hesitant to go to post. You could tell by the way Bejarano drew her back at the break that she wasn't the same horse he's used to. The fact that she nosed one out in as Grade 1 speaks to her heart. Hopefully we'll get second choice money in the BC from this

I agree completely and today she is a very good distaffer good enough to gut out 6 grade 1 wins including the Distaff last year. It just frustrates me time and time again when she gets bet like she does in many of her spots like she is a virtual cinch and she beats me cause of her guts. I think it is pretty cool when she displays the heart that she did today, but it certaintly doesn't help my bankroll at all. All in all a cool mare though.
