I would love it if you would elaborate a bit on how you came up with your selections in the fifth race. Especially since it's scheduled for the turf, and that may well not happen. If it stays on, how in the world do Spicy Vow or Prince of Iron wind up in the same zip code, much less vying for the win, against Rock Lobster, Encinas, or Retribution?
If it comes off, how do either of the coupled 2 entries get around and beat Do I Havea Witness? Not bustin' stones, just some friendly advice - Mostly everyone here appreciates well thought out opinions, but if you are going to post this ludicrous stuff, you may want to provide a bit of an explanation.... it will save you much grief |

I have to admit, there are some extremely puzzling horses being used, and I for one would really enjoy seeing the logic behind some of them.

Perhaps assuming off, and then strictly by wet Tomlinson figs?...I dunno, trying to find a theme here..

He didn't conclude with "go baby go", so I think it safe to say he's not

Code cracked! - He explains all of this on his website -
Aqueduct Race 3: One mile from the chute on the dirt and their are some value plays in this field. #2 - High Brass (C.Velasquez/A.Jerkens) will be the favorite and rightfully so after two tremendous efforts this summer. Jerkens has laid him off for the past three months and the workouts are not impressive, but the horse ran well coming back after a layoff in June. The value in this race lies with #5 - Counting House (Morales/Callejas). He ran impressively on the turf at Belmont in October and moves back to the dirt where he impressed on an off track at Belmont on the first of October. It is this horses fourth race in the last 47 days, and it showed in his last start. The work on the 12th makes him much more intriguing today as he didn't expend a whole lot on Halloween. #3 Bebob (Hill/Hushion) means business and will have something to say coming back less than 30 days after a strong showing at Belmont. Aqueduct Race 4: We need to single somebody to make this ticket affordable and worth while so here we go with #2 - Brogue (Morales/Contessa) coming off of the turf to a 6 1/2 furlong race on the Aqueduct dirt which suits this horse well. The Tomlinson number on a wet track is 432 which is VERY HIGH. If the track still looks wet and it most likely will not have dried out completely with the whether this past week. Play this horse on all your tickets. Aqueduct Race 5: I am not sure what to do with this race because the turf will most likely be off tomorrow so I am going to handicap it like it is going to be on the slop. #8 - Spicy Value (Morales/Bazeos) is a bigtime longshot play on the mud with a Tomlinson figure of 412. He will be my longshot play of the day. #9 - Prince of Iron (Maragh/Galluscio) has won four times in five starts on the mud and is the most likely candidate to get the prize on an off track. The consistency on the wet track is the reason why. At 12-1 morning line there is significant value with a wet track. If #2 or #2b get into this race they are absolutely contenders on an off track so use both of them. I would stay away from any big favorites here there seems to be a lot of value if they are not running on the turf. |

Is it really SUNNY and drying out there in New York today?
Any chance they actually remain "on" despite yesterday's monsoon.... |

If High Brass is the favorite it will be the biggest upset since Jim Dandy. Hell, he can't even be the second choice....and might not be third choice.

I found the answers on his website and enjoy reading everyone's opinion. Dan has some very unique insight and I, for one, appreciate that. If you chose to see that in a negative light, then that's your issue to deal with - |

You seem to have an overly heightened and sensitive impression of the intensity and intent of responses to a lot of what goes on here. There is a bit of a gauntlet to run in the Selections Room if you expect to be well-received, and to be honest, the threadstarter didn't get off on the right foot the other day when he retro-fitted his successful play courtesy of a 'forgot to mention I used' horse. Questions as to how he arrived at an opinion are utterly fair, and Elvis asked in a 100% 'civil' manner.

Ludicrous: amusing or laughable through obvious absurdity, incongruity, exaggeration, or eccentricity No where is there an insinuation that calling a pick ludicrous is a reflection on, or an assault against, the man or his ability to handicap. The notion of Spicy Vow to actually contend, at this level against this company, on an off track (a moot point now as they have come to their collective senses and have mercifully scratched him) is laughably absurd. SV posts three starts over an off track with corresponding BSF's of 35, 44, and 49. I simply wanted to know what would provoke one to give him a shot here, which was explained on his blog site. That's all there was to it, my man. Sorry if it ruffled your feathers. |
