just wondering...how do they decide to take off for one race, but leave on for another? will an extra hour really allow much drying? do they also go by the race itself-for example a feature race staying on, while a cheap claimer may come off? do they also consider the amount of possible scratches and the affect on the betting?

It's about running one race only on the course during the day....not when they run it.

The 7th is a better race per se.

You think Here Comes Rita is lightly race enough where maybe she can move forward and handle the class hike, or the others in here too tough for her?

Good for you ( I'm actually serious ).

In that case....yes the turf will be yielding I assume.

Any more turf racing we get past this week is a blessing. There are three scheduled for Friday, and we drew them today, so we should run them. There is one a day in the book starting next week and without any rain we will probably run through next week. Any more rain....and forget it. The courses still look OK for this time of year. If we stay dry and in the 40s we'll get a few more races.

It's a double edged sword for me, as off the turf is a pain in the ass, but I want turf racing for as long as possible.

Thanks.

As a rule, don't they stop racing on the turf once the Inner meet starts?

No, not at all. The inner starts after Thanksgiving weekend...which is close to when turf racing stops but they are mutually exclusive events in that the two events have zero specifically to do with each other.

The timing is similar because one opens when it gets cold...and one closes for similar reasons.

You expected something different? I think there is a mutual respect that exists between Andy and myself.
