Default 1/11: Aqueduct ($240k C/O)

Long and fun day of racing Saturday with a few solid but unspectacular returns justifying the effort. SAnta Anita carryover was hit for just shy of $10k, a mutual that was OK given the series of 2-1 to 4-1 winners. Cowboy Cal, now notably running under the name of "Mr. & Mrs. Robert McNair" instead of their erstwhile Stonerside, and whom I thought little of, won the San Pasqual.

The Fair Grounds action was a good deal more entertaining and profitable, with strong efforts from Larry Jones/Rick Porter runners Just Jenda and Freisan Fire in the Tiffany Lass and Lecomte. Juicy exotics in the 10th keying on top Cool Hero ($201 Tri; $701 Super) and the $222.00 Late P4 ($1) were the day's best bingos. Josie Carroll's Good and Lucky under PVal in the Louisiana was the only NoLa winner that proved totally elusive.

At Gulfstream, failure to respect the insanely torrid Ken McPeek cost us all a shot at the $263.00 Late Double after inclusion Kiss the Kid ($24.60) topped Ft. Lauderdale. Theregoesjojo ($15.00), who McPeek scratched from Thursday's 2nd 9f soph ALW, upset highly-touted Quality Road and Obligingly under Kent D. to give 'the man who bought Curlin' a sweep of the week's three big ALW's for 3yo's.

While I wasn't looking, Aqueduct carried yet again, so there is $240,000 in the pot to start the sequence which includes 4 low class events worth $16k-$19k. Hope you did well Saturday and that a piece of the Big A come home with us all today!

Not to speak for Steve,as I'm sure he'll get back to you but it appears as though this is a drop in class as she has been knocking heads with open company and is back in against NY breds in this spot.

Just my 2 cents.

Trying to spread earlier and take stands late in the 6, and she's fastest of the major players. Beating grizzled mares like Coli Bear and All Giving the way she beat them is an excellent endorsement, and she can be as tactical as she needs to be. Performances anywhere near the pair at Bensalem make her a winner today. G/L!!

Default Just my one cent

Edward Lehman has transformed this horse some way. Throat surgery? Ran by far her best off almost a year layoff and then paired it up last out. 47 days should be plenty of rest and she proved she can fire fresh 10/27. The layup is no concern IMO. My only concern is the Dutrow horses Sherine and By the Light conspire to crawl up front not giving a great pace set up for Cammy. Maybe Megadeed off her last wire to wire win will be the key for Cammy to come flying late.
